  • WMH safety coordinator attends training

    NORWAY — Western Maine Health President and Chief Executive Officer Timothy Churchill announced recently that Michael Hatch, Safety & Security Coordinator for Western Maine Health, has recently returned from a Homeland Security Training in Alabama.

    Hatch attended a training offered by the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) which is operated by the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency and is the only federally-chartered Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) training facility in the nation.

    This fun and informative demonstration will help take the mystery out of oil painting. All 119 Artist Oil Colours have the highest concentration of pigment consistent with the broadest handling properties which gives artists excellent covering power and tinting strength.

  • Maine home sales decline in April

    SOUTH PORTLAND — Maine single-family home sales and median sales prices declined in April, according to statistics released recently by the Maine Real Estate Information Service, Inc. (MREIS). Realtors sold 236 fewer homes last month compared to one year ago, a 23.74% decrease. Maine’s median sales price (MSP) dipped 2.84% to $160,750 when compared with $165,450 in April 2010. The MSP indicates that half of the homes were sold for more and half sold for less.

    HELPING OUT — Jon Paradise of the Maine Credit Union League presents a check to Connie Jones of SeniorsPlus as a contribution to it Meals On Wheels program, which serves Androscoggin, Oxford and Franklin Counties. The Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger made a donation to all five of the Meals On Wheels Programs in Maine. In the background is one of the van’s preparing for a day of deliveries.
