    OXFORD HILLS — It's that time of year again, the time to recognize the "best of the best" in the Oxford Hills. The Chamber is soliciting applications for the following Business and Community Award Categories and the deadline for submissions is Friday, November 11:

  • Real estate sales increase

    SOUTH PORTLAND — Sales of Maine’s single-family existing homes increased 14.74% during the month of August 2011, compared to August 2010, according to the Maine Real Estate Information System, Inc. (MREIS). Home prices decreased 2.8% over the same 12 months to a statewide median sales price (MSP) of $165,000. The MSP indicates that half of the homes were sold for more and half sold for less.

  • Credit union honors victims

    HONORING VICTIMS — From left, Jennifer Gaylord, executive director of the United Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross serving Androscoggin, Franklin, Kennebec, Oxford and Somerset Counties, accepts a check for $1,911 from Jon Paradise of the Maine Credit Union League. Maine’s credit unions presented contributions to all five of Maine’s Red Cross Chapters’ Emergency Food Relief Funds in honor of 9/11, as well as a food pantry located within each region.

    NORWAY — The Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce their new business networking event, the B2B Expo. This is a Business to Business Trade Show being held on Friday, October 21 at the Norway Armory.

    With the challenging economy, members are looking for affordable ways to market their business. Members have asked for more opportunities to network their business services to other businesses. The OH Business to Business Expo is that opportunity.

  • Self-employment workshop set

    LEWISTON — A free workshop for anyone interested in starting a business is being offered in Lewiston on Wednesday, September 21.

    This introductory workshop will walk you through the pros and cons of owning your own business,show you how to get started, point out the major elements of a business plan, introduce the many resources available in the Androscoggin County area and help you decide whether self employment is the right choice for you.

    Pre-registration is required. This three-hour workshop will be from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the USM LAC, LearningWorks.
