  • Free workshop: Social Media Marketing Made Simple

    NORWAY — Oxford Hills SCORE and Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce are offering a free workshop on Social Media Marketing Made Simple. The program will be presented Tuesday, May 14, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Norway Town Office, 19 Danforth Street in Norway.

    What you will learn during this workshop:

    What social media really is and why you should use it;

    Overview of social media and how to determine which of the most popular channels are right for your business;

  • OFCU holds annual meeting

    RUMFORD — Oxford Federal Credit Union held its 75th Annual Meeting on Wednesday, April 17 at Mountain Valley High School's Muskie Auditorium. Tony Koris and Becky Hall, both incumbents, were elected to serve on the Board of Directors, each for a three-year term.

    During the new business portion of the meeting, Randy Hotham, Chairman of the Board and Mike Madore, Vice-Chairman of the Board announced the 2012 recipient of the Tony Poirier Volunteer Service Award, Theodore “Bitsy” Ionta.

  • Encore Entrepreneur: Small Business resources in Western Maine

    NORWAY — Oxford Hills SCORE, the SBA and AARP have teamed up to provide a workshop on business mentoring resources available in Western Maine for both those currently in business and those considering starting a business. The program will be presented Monday, April 29, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Norway Town Office, 19 Danforth Street in Norway.

  • McCabe earns Arborist license

    NAPLES — Charles "Dakota" McCabe of Q-Team Tree Service in Naples (also dba Cook's Tree Service) has earned his Maine State Arborist license. Dakota lives in North Waterford and he has worked at Q-Team since the spring of 2012.

  • Stanley-Beals book signing scheduled

    NORWAY — Books N Things in Norway is hosting a book signing on Friday, May 24, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The author is Pat Stanley-Beals, the first woman master electrician in Maine.

    Her book is titled "Memoir: A Charged Life (How a woman became an electrician, plus other things)." The book begins with the early childhood experiences that formed her approach to life.

  • Parris House Wool Works to continue Norway rug hooking tradition

    PARIS —  When Artful Hands Fiber Studio in Norway re-opens under its new owners, Parris House Wool Works will take over the rug hooking portion of business, previously known as Connie's Seven Gables Rug Hooking, says Beth Miller, one of Parris' owners and founder. 

    On April 13, Artful Hands Fiber Studio on Main Street in Norway closed its doors, but is expected to re-open in May in one of the newly-renovated storefronts of the Norway Opera House.
