  • Lufkin joins Family Health

    BETHEL — Leslie Lufkin, LCSW, LADC will be joining the medical team at Bethel Family Health Center this winter to provide behavioral health services to patients of the practice. One of the program goals is to focus on the total person and assist patients at difficult crossroads across the lifecycle.

  • Posabilities Grand Opening Open House

    NORWAY — Posabilities - Physical Therapy, Yoga, and Yoga Therapy is excited to announce its Grand Opening Open House on Saturday, January 26.

    The open house will kick off with a morning Vinyasa Yoga practice 9-10:15 a.m., led by Kathryn Gardner, RYT, followed by a Therapeutic Yoga class 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m. with Katey Hawes, MS, PT, RYT, and a Zumba class 1:30-2:30 p.m. led by Carley Packard, PTA. All of these classes are free and open to the public.

    PORTLAND — Poland Spring Water Company’s trucking fleet was awarded the 2012 Maine Motor Transport Association (MMTA) Grand Champion Award at MMTA’s annual banquet in Portland on January 10.

  • USDA finalizes new microloan

    WASHINGTON, DC — Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack recently announced a new microloan program from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) designed to help small and family operations, beginning and socially disadvantaged farmers secure loans under $35,000.

    The new microloan program is aimed at bolstering the progress of producers through their start-up years by providing needed resources and helping to increase equity so that farmers may eventually graduate to commercial credit and expand their operations.

  • Email marketing workshop set

    BETHEL — The Western Maine Economic Development Council is pleased to offer a workshop that will help businesses and nonprofits use email to target their customers; create, send, track and manage their emails and grow their email list using Constant Contact and MailChimp email marketing systems. The workshop will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 9-11:30 a.m., at the Bethel Inn, 21 Broad Street, Bethel.

  • H&R Block welcomes Estes back

    With more than eight years of experience in tax preparation, Estes specializes in individual, small business, farm and rental tax preparation, as well as educational and energy credits and health care reform. Estes has been employed with H&R Block since 2005 with a one year hiatus in 2012.

  • Basselet achieves Enrolled Agent status

    PARIS — H&R Block of South Paris employee, Rejeanne Basselet, has successfully completed the Enrolled Agent exam. Enrolled Agents are the only licensed tax practitioners who specialize in taxation and also have unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service.

    Rejeanne has passed a comprehensive examination which covers all aspects of the tax code. She will be required to take continuing education credits every year to maintain her Enrolled Agent status.
