  • AHCH announces 2012 Employees of the Year

    LEWISTON — Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice presented six outstanding individuals with Employee of the Year Awards at the agency’s gathering in April. At the end of each year, Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice recognizes and honors employees who have made outstanding contributions to the agency throughout the year. The recipients were nominated by their peers for exemplifying one or more of the agency’s values – integrity, stewardship, accountability, compassion, quality and trust.

  • Marketing Assistance Loans and Loan Deficiency Payments continued for the 2013 crop year

    WASHINGTON, DC — The marketing assistance loan (MAL) and loan deficiency payment (LDP) provisions authorized in the Food, Conservation and Energy Act of 2008 (the 2008 Farm Bill) have been extended for the 2013 crop year with the passage of the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012.

  • Credit Unions announce fundraising record

    PORTLAND — Recently, Maine’s Credit Unions made a major announcement before a packed crowd of about 100 credit union staff and guests on the success of their efforts towards “thawing” out hunger in Maine in 2012 at the Thaw to End Hunger Results Celebration Event. At this annual event, held at the Marriott Hotel in South Portland, credit unions were recognized for their success in raising the most funds ever for the Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger, and the official, record-breaking total was announced.

    HELPING OUT — Q-Team Tree Service of Naples (also DBA Cook's Tree Service) recently donated some time to Camp Sunshine in South Casco. Darren Cole and Josh Smith did the work.

    PARIS — Orientations (by appointment) will be held Wednesday, May 15 at 9 a.m. and Tuesday, May 28 at 1:30 p.m. at the CareerCenter office located at the Chamber of Commerce Building, 4 Western Ave. in South Paris. Call 743-7763 ext. 1 to schedule an appointment.

    Walk-in hours are available every Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Norway Memorial Library.

  • SMH helps make the Healthy Choice the Easy Choice

    NORWAY — Healthier options will soon be available in hospital cafeterias throughout the MaineHealth system, thanks to a new national initiative. Ten of MaineHealth’s member hospitals, including Stephens Memorial Hospital, have signed on to the Partnership for a Healthier America’s (PHA) “Hospital Healthy Food Initiative.” Across the country, 155 hospitals are taking part, including Kaiser Permanente and Cleveland Clinic, making it the most expansive effort to impact hospital food and nutrition to date.

  • Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice announces new general volunteers

    LEWISTON — Volunteer support has been an integral part of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice's services for 40 years. The program is now widely recognized as one of the most extensive, nonprofit, home health care volunteer programs in Maine.

    Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice is pleased to announce that three people completed the General Volunteer training held in December 2012. Those who attended the training include Taija Ayotte, Harvey Lord and Fern Rivard.
