  • Pack 130 plans Pinewood Derby open competition

    SOUTH PARIS — The Pinewood Derby is one of the most popular and successful family activities in Cub Scouting. Pinewood derby cars are small wooden models that boys make with help from their families and then race in competition. The cars are powered by gravity and run down a regulation track.

  • St. Amour earns honors

    WORCESTER, MA — Sarah C. St. Amour of Poland Spring has been named to second honors on the Clark University Dean's List. This selection marks outstanding academic achievement during the Fall 2010 semester.

    To be eligible for second honors, students must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, of a maximum of 4.3 (all A+s).

  • USM Dean's List

    PORTLAND/GORHAM — The University of Southern Maine has announced its Dean's List for the Fall 2010 semester. To be named to the Dean's List, students must earn a grade point average of 3.4 or above and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.

  • Homeschooling parents to meet

    HARRISON — Parents who home-school their children are invited to attend the Home School Support Group meeting at Harrison Village Library on Monday, March 7 at 6 p.m.

  • Young women’s support group begins

    PARIS — REACH (Rape Education and Crisis Hotline) has begun a new young women’s support group, which will meet on Tuesdays, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the REACH office. Participants are welcome to come earlier (from 2 p.m. on) to do homework, hang out, etc.
