  • Program offers real-world projects

    SOUTH PARIS — Western Maine University and Community College Center (WMUCC) supports students enrolled in the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) certificate program offered by the University of Maine at Machias. GIS technology refers to computer software, data, and methods that allow users to easily collect, store and manage spatial information, create maps, and analyze spatial relationships.

  • Evening open house at CMCC

    AUBURN — Central Maine Community College (CMCC) will host an informational program Thursday, July 14 from 6-8 p.m. designed for students interested in attending the College this fall. This informal open house will include information on admissions, financial aid, academic programs, and campus tours.

    All students applying will have the $20 application fee waived. Assistance will be provided in completing the admissions application and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

    MEDFORD, MA — Timothy Martin of Casco was among those named to the Tufts University Dean's List for the Spring 2011 semester. Martin is a sophomore at Tufts. Dean's List honors require a semester grade point average of 3.4 or greater.

    At our end of year assembly, physical education teacher Bob Austin presented the President’s Council Fitness Awards. These are awarded each year to students in the fourth grade who excelled on the Physical Fitness test. Out of all our fourth graders, Cassidy Walo was honored for being above the 85th percentile!

  • Bikes for Books awards

    BIKES FOR BOOKS — Once again for the third year in a row, the Oxford Masonic Lodge has sponsored Bikes for Books awards. The program provides a bike for one student in each grade K-6. During the month of May every student who meets his/her reading goal has their name placed in the drawing. Those students winning bicycles this year were, by grade: K – Isabelle Knightly, 1 – Sara Hebert, 2 – Devon Pollard, 3 – Tim LaGrange, 4 – Teaghan Rodzen, 5 – Shayla Stevens, and 6 – Brandon Thibault.

  • Boxberry offers summer arts fun

    OXFORD — The Boxberry School in Oxford will launch a summer art series beginning in July for children seven to 13 years old.

    The program, set up like a day camp, will focus on art and art education. Three sessions will be offered, and will have concurrent classes with emphasis on art, music, drama and pottery. The program promises to be a fun, creative alternative for children this summer. Local artists, musicians and teachers will teach the summer arts program.
