    SOUTH PORTLAND — The following full-time, in-state students have been named to the University of Southern Maine Dean's List for the Spring 2011 semester. To be named, students must earn a grade point average of 3.4 or above and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.

  • Husky show howling success

    HARRISON — It was a howling good time on Friday the 13th as the Harrison Huskies “Strut Your Husky Stuff Show” came alive. The Huskies howled the fourth grade Waterford Wildcats to come out and play too.

  • School tour

    TOUR – Frank Perham gave a tour of his personal mineralogy collection to Oxford Hills Middle School Outing Club members. The tour was in collaboration with the Bryant Pond 4-H Camp and Learning Center. The students really enjoyed discovering the wonders below our feet and Perham was more than happy to share his knowledge and love of mineralogy. Pictured with Perham are Jacob Michaud, Eddie Heath, and Matthew Langlinais.

  • DECA student is one of the top

    SOUTH PARIS — On May 3, third year Oxford Hills Technical School's Marketing/DECA student Kayla Turner heard the words she had worked so hard to hear on this day ... her name.

  • New degree program launched

    BANGOR — With NESCom’s unveiling of a Bachelor of Science degree in Entertainment Production, there’s another reason for high school students to get excited about a college education. Core disciplines associated with the theatre and performing arts are employed by many other communications industries throughout the world. As an example, design and construction techniques applied in theatre are used in everything from trade shows to shopping malls, fashion shows, exhibits and even political rallies.

  • Adult Ed has new on-line course

    OXFORD HILLS/BUCKFIELD — Oxford Hills/Buckfield Adult Education has a program that makes it easy to take high-quality, non-credit on-line courses. Oxford Hills/Buckfield Adult Education has partnered with ed2go to offer hundreds of on-line, instructor-led courses and is pleased to announce the launch of "Introduction to Guitar."

    Mount Ida

    NEWTON, MA — Ebony Mills, a resident of Harrison, has been named to the Dean's List for the 2011 spring semester at Mount Ida College in Newton, MA. Ebony is one of 355 students honored for outstanding academic achievement by being named to the Dean's List. To make the Dean's List, students must have a grade point average of 3.33 or above.

  • Hebron Academy honors local students

    HEBRON — Hebron Academy held commencement exercises on May 28, awarding diplomas to 76 graduates, representing 15 states and six countries and provinces. Local students receiving honors in the graduating class included the following:

  • Residents attending Saint Joe's

    STANDISH — The following area students have enrolled at Saint Joseph's College of Maine beginning in the fall semester.

    David Coyne of Casco, a student from Notre Dame High School, will major in Biology. Ashley Lawrence of Harrison, a student from Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, will major in Liberal Studies. Daniel Place of Naples, a student from Lake Region High School, will major in Criminal Justice.

  • Area students graduate

    FARMINGTON — The University of Maine at Farmington celebrated Saturday, May 14, as 392 graduates marched in the 2011 Commencement Ceremony on the UMF campus. Local graduates include Angela Hooper, B.A., Interdisciplinary Studies - Theatre/Arts, Albant Twp., Angela Contreras, B.S., Early Childhood Education, Bryant Pond; Megan Hamann, B.S., Early Childhood Special Education; Emily Hutchinson, B.S., Early Childhood Education and Carla Powers, B.S., Rehabilitation Services, Buckfield
