    POLAND — Five Middle School students from RSU 16 will be traveling to Washington, DC in June to represent Maine in The History Channel's National History Day Competition.

  • Pre-K and Kindergarten screening for Harrison and Waterford students

    WATERFORD/HARRISON — Registration and screening for next year’s Pre-K and Kindergarten classes at Waterford Elementary School will be held on Thursday, May 23 for Pre-K and Tuesday, May 28 for Kindergarten. Children who will be four years old as of October 15 can register for Pre-K and children who will be five years old on or before October 15 are eligible to attend kindergarten. Parents are encouraged to contact the Waterford Elementary School office immediately to set an appointment time for registration.

    Rescue Dog

    Excitement was high on recently as parents and students first read together in the classroom and then made the trip to the gym where they found their "mystery guest." Since the main character in the whole-school book "The Trouble with Chickens" by Doreen Cronin is a rescue dog, the perfect guest was also a rescue dog named Clyde. Clyde was brought by Norm Lewis, a game warden from the Woodstock area, along with a colleague game warden.

  • Scholarships cover cost of first-time University course

    PARIS — University College at South Paris announced the availability of Osher Scholarships for the University of Maine System (UMS) Fall 2013 semester, which begins in September. The UMS offers Osher Scholarships to encourage more Maine people of all ages to participate in higher education. Preference is given to first-time students, and scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
