    NORWAY — Donald Weller, 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 15, 2011 surrounded by his family at Stephens Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 8, 1931 in Johnstown, PA, the son of Lloyd and Bessie Weller. He attended Grove City College for his undergraduate studies and Michigan State University for his MBA. He then served in the U.S. Army before marrying Margaret Elizabeth MacKay on March 8, 1958 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

  • Stephen Lee Powers Sr.

    NORWAY — Stephen Lee Powers Sr., 56, of Norway was taken unexpectedly on January 13, 2011 to be with the Lord. He was born in Rumford on June 24, 1954, son of the late Warren Morgan Powers and Ida Larmore Powers. He grew up in Newry and graduated from Telstar High School in 1973. He was an avid woodsman throughout his life and enjoyed being outside whether it be on a tractor, 4-wheeler or snowmobile.

    He was presently employed for the Oxford Highway Department. He and his son were enthusiastic members of the Antique Tractor Club.

    NORWAY — Gordon E. Smith, 83, of Norway passed away on Friday, January 14, 2011 at the Maine Veterans Home. He was born in Oxford on October 18, 1927, the son of Egbert and Delia Green Smith. He graduated from Oxford High School where he was a pitcher for the baseball team. He also played minor league ball. He entered the U. S. Air Force during World War II. He attended East Coast Aero Tech before being called back into active duty during the Korean War. He married Betty Benedetto on September 24, 1951.

  • Dorothy Jane (D. J.) Andrews

    CONCORD, MA — Dorothy Jane (Whitcomb) Andrews, of Concord MA, was born in Portland on July 15, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Charles S. Whitcomb and Violet (Jumpre) Whitcomb. She and her husband, Francis S. Andrews, lived in Lincoln, MA for 48 years. She had been a resident of Concord since 2007.

    PARIS — Stanley Durgin, 89, of Paris passed away on Monday, January 17, 2011 at the Hospice House in Auburn. He was born in Sweden on January 21, 1921, the son of Cyrus and Fannie Wilson Durgin. He grew up in Paris and graduated from Paris High School in 1940. He was a four-letter athlete participating in basketball, baseball, football and track.
