Marcel H. Martin
Mar 17, 2011 12:21 amSOUTH PARIS — Marcel H. Martin, 80, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the Maine Veterans Home in South Paris. He was born in Springvale on July 7, 1930, the son of Arcade and Blanche Plante Martin. He was educated at Sacred Heart School in Jackman, St. Peter’s in Lewiston and graduated from St. Dominic High School in Lewiston in the class of 1948. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Daphine T. Mains
Mar 17, 2011 12:21 amBRIDGTON — Daphine T. Mains, 57, passed away at Fryeburg Health Care Center on March 14, 2011 after a long illness. She was born in Bridgton on February 13, 1954, the daughter of Elisha, Sr. and Maude (Hartford) Mains. She attended local schools, graduating from Lake Region High School in 1972. She was employed by Sebago Moccasin of Bridgton for 17 1/2 years. She also worked for Walmart in Windham as well as North Conway, NH. She enjoyed reading, listening to Country Music and interacting with people.
Frank H. Knox
Mar 08, 2011 12:00 amFRYEBURG — Frank Hill Knox, 88, of Fryeburg, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 27, 2011. He was born November 11, 1922 to Wendell H. and Edith Haley Knox. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Fred H. Knox.
He was a proud US Army veteran. He loved to entertain while playing guitar in The Black Mountain Band of Hebron. He was an avid outdoorsman.
Colwyn F. Haskell
Mar 06, 2011 12:00 amBETHEL — Colwyn F. Haskell, 78, of Paradise Hill, Bethel died on March 1, 2011 at the Hospice House in Auburn. He was born on May 20, 1932, the son of Claude and Josephine Haskell. He graduated from Norway High School as the Valedictorian of the Class of 1950, married his beloved high school sweetheart, Judith Esther Klain, and attended the University of Maine, where he earned his Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering. During his college years he was a member of Phi Eta Kappa, and he captained the cross country, and the indoor and outdoor track teams.
Dorothy G. Swain
Mar 06, 2011 12:00 amFLORENCE, MA — Dorothy G. Swain, 92, died suddenly Thursday, February 17, 2011, at home. She was born in Hampton Falls, NH on June 30, 1918, daughter of the late Mildred (Brown) and Roscoe Swain. She attended schools in Hampton Falls and at nearby Hampton Academy. At the age of 17 she went off to Gordon College of Theology and Missions in Boston to fulfill her dedication to full-time Christian service. She received an A.B. degree in Theology from Gordon and continued on to major in Education at Boston University Graduate School, earning an M.A. degree.
Howard G. Inman
Mar 03, 2011 12:01 amALBANY TWP – Howard G. Inman, 86, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 1, 2011.
He was born in Albany, Maine on December 21, 1924, the son of Benjamin and Gusta (Kimball) Inman.
He served in WWII and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star at the Battle of the Bulge.

Mar 03, 2011 12:01 amWOODSTOCK — Funeral services for Mr. Ervin Richard “Dickie” Brown, of Rumford Center were conducted on Friday, February 25, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Perkins Valley Road in Woodstock with Elder Greg Dennison officiating. Organist was Mr. Randy Gladden.
Music selection was "Amazing Grace." Special music, “Let My Words be Few,” was sung by Michael and Timothy Brown. A special slide show was presented including music “When I Close My Eyes,” “ I Believe” and “I’m Going to Love You Forever.”
