    OXFORD — Muriel (Sybil) Dutton Snell fell asleep in the Lord at the age of 92 at the Market Square Nursing Home in South Paris on April 7, 2011 after a long fight with Alzheimer’s disease. She had lived in the home that she and her husband, Hial Snell, had built in the early '70s on Fore Street in Oxford until the last five weeks of her life.

    She was born in Springfield, VT to Herbert W. Dutton and Lillie Mae Felch Dutton on May 29, 1918. She was the youngest and only girl of five siblings. She married Hial P. Snell on June 12, 1936 in North Springfield, VT.

    NORWAY — Forest Donald Mills, 74, of Norway passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the Hospice House in Auburn. He was born in Oxford on February 9, 1937, to Forrest Donald and Elizabeth (Baxter) Mills.

  • Shirley (Perham) McFarlane

    WEST PARIS — Shirley (Perham) McFarlane, 88, of West Paris, died Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, sisters, and sisters' grandchildren. Born in 1922 in Spangler, PA to Roy and Myrtle Perham, she grew up in West Paris, graduating from Agnes Gray School in 1941. As a teen, she opened a small dance studio in West Paris and taught ballet and tap to area children.

  • Charles A. Weeman

    BROWNFIELD — Charles A. Weeman, 72, of Pequawket Trail, Brownfield, died Friday, April 8, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Manchester, NH, a son of Raymond and Daisy (Rand) Weeman and attended Porter Academy. He had served in the Army and was a member of the Masons. He was a hard worker and worked as a mechanic and then a carpenter before starting his own excavation business in Demark in 1979. He continued his excavation business after moving to Brownfield in 1984 and continued to run the business until 1997 when his health forced him to retire.

  • Ellis A. Roakes

    LAKESIDE, CA — Ellis A. Roakes, 86, of Lakeside, CA, passed away on April 6, 2011. He was born on June 17, 1924, in Auburn, the son of Merritt and Lillian (Pitman) Roakes. He graduated from Edward Little High School and served in the Army during World War II in India, Burma and China, as part of the 97th Infantry. In 1949, he married Jacqueline Eaton. They were married for five years and had one child. He later married Amelia Vasquez Briggs. They were married for 13 years, and she died in 1990.

    BRUNSWICK — Pearl D. Noble Goodwin, 92 died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.

    OCALA, FL — Elizabeth Blanche Colangelo, 82, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2011. She was born in Trevose, PA and moved to Ocala in 1986 from Hammonton, NJ. She was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church and a retired registered nurse.

    SWEDEN — Elma H. Heino, 96, of Sweden died Saturday April 9, 2011 at Market Square Health Care in South Paris. She was born in Finland on December 19, 1914, the daughter of Oscar and Hilma Antintytar Anderson. She was educated in Harrison schools. She married William Heino who died in 1963. She worked in shipyards, shoeshops, corn factory, cleaning summer camps, and as a homemaker. She enjoyed many things including birds, gardening, sewing, picking berries, animals especially cats and hounds, singing and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

  • David Belskis

    WEST PARIS — David Belskis went to join his heavenly Father on April 5, 2011. Born in 1946, Mr. Belskis graduated from Woodstock High School in the Class of 1965. He attended the 7th Day Adventist Church in his childhood and remained a heartfelt admirer of Elder Shaw throughout his life. He was an Air Force veteran who proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a skilled carpenter, plumber, builder and avid antique enthusiast and collector.
