    SOUTH PARIS — Barry Frederick Ryan passed away on May 16, 2011 after an almost 30-year courageous battle with Crohn’s Disease. Born in Portland on August 23, 1951 to Frederick J. Ryan and Margaret (Olmstead) Ryan, he attended Portland schools and graduated from Portland High School in 1970. He was drafted and served two years in the U.S. Navy from 1971 to 1973 on the U.S.S. Forest Sherman. After his discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1975, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 23 years.

    HEBRON — Woodrow A. Gammon, 98, passed away peacefully May 19, 2011, at the Hibbard Nursing Home in Dover-Foxcroft, where he had been cared for since October, 2010. Born December 26, 1912, he was the fourth of seven children born to Almer and Gertrude Gammon of Buckfield. He graduated from Buckfield High School in 1931, an accomplishment best understood knowing he walked to and from school every day, five miles each way. His class of 13 included Leona Buck, whom he would marry May 12, 1935.

  • Norman A. Perham

    WOODSTOCK — Norman A. Perham, 93, of Woodstock, died May 13, 2011 at the Maine Veterans' Home in South Paris. He was born October 4, 1917 in Woodstock, the son of Nelson and Emma Perham. He enlisted in the Army on May 3, 1943 and served as a radio operator and mechanic until his honorable discharge as a Sergeant on March 3, 1946.

    He lived in Woodstock all his life and he earned his living by working in the woods. He was an avid reader and loved visiting with his many friends.
