    WEST PARIS — Graveside services for Jeannette M. Heath will be held on Saturday, June 11 at 10 a.m. at Wayside Cemetery in West Paris. Arrangements are under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home 64 Andrews Rd., Bryant Pond.

  • Therna Myers Sanborn

    TAPPAHANNOCK, VA — Therna Myers Sanborn, 88, died on June 2, 2011 at the Essex House in Tappahannock, VA. She was born in Sumner on January 16, 1923, the daughter of Patrick J. and Inza Russell Myers, who preceded her in death. She graduated from the University of Maine. She taught at Kennett High School in Conway, NH and in Poughkeepsie, NY before joining the faculty of St. Margaret’s School in Tappahannock in 1960 where she taught history until her retirement in 1989.

    LEWISTON — Fred Homer Tibbetts, 88, formerly of Bethel, died Friday, December 31, 2010 at Marshwood Nursing Home. He was born in Bethel on March 12, 1922, the son of Fred and Louisa Ellen Cummings Tibbetts. He attended Gould Academy and Utility Engineering School for Mack Motors in Chicago. He was a Purple Heart recipient while serving our country in the U. S. Army during World War II. He had been employed as a diesel mechanic for many years. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists.

  • Hugh S. Durgin

    PARIS — Hugh S. Durgin, age 87, died June 5, 2011 at the Maine Veterans Home in South Paris.

    Hugh was born in Bisbeetown, Waterford, Maine on Nov. 15, 1923. He was the son of Henry Porter and Edith Stanley Durgin. He graduated from Norway High School in 1942 and served in the United States Army at Fort Rosecrans, California.

    He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mariann E. (Mills) Durgin, six children, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and Lucky.

    SOUTH PARIS — Lois May Corbett, 88, of South Paris died Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Market Square Health Care Center in South Paris. She was born in West Paris on May 1, 1923, the daughter of Harold and Martha E. McPherson Hollis. She graduated from West Paris High School where she was a great basketball player. She married William Corbett.

  • Duane M. Gordon

    HARTFORD — Duane M. Gordon, 63, of Hartford, died Sunday, May 29, 2011 at his home with his wife holding his hand. He was born in Norway on June 17, 1947, the son of Merl and Laurette Pratt Gordon. He served his country in the National Guard. He had been employed as a mechanic for SAD #17 for many years. Street rodding was his hobby; he loved car shows and spending time with his street rod friends. He was a member of the Rod and Kustom Kruisers for 25 years.

  • Oiva 'Jack' Rosenberg

    BINGHAM — Oiva “Jack” Rosenberg, age 94, of Owen Street, passed away January 25, 2011 at the Somerset Rehabilitation and Living Center.

    He was born April 26, 1916 in Paris Hill, Maine, the son of Arvid and Elizabeth (Kyllonen) Rosenberg. Jack grew up on the farm until it was sold and he went on to pursue his life. He then graduated from Elim Bible Institute in Lima, NY in 1960. Today he would be called a Non Traditional Student, as his family lived in Campus Housing for 3 years while he went about his studied and built up the church in Elmira, NY.
