    CANTON — Nancy Elizabeth Corriveau, 72, a resident of Canton, died March 11, 2013 at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington. She was born August 9, 1940 in Berlin, New Hampshire, the daughter of George and Rachel (York) DeCoster. She grew up in Gilead and graduated from Gould Academy in 1958. In 1959 she married her husband Denis Corriveau, Sr.

  • Stephen A. Nichols

    HEBRON — Stephen A. Nichols, 54, of Hebron, formerly of Mexico, passed away unexpectedly and way too soon on March 16, 2013. Born in Rumford on March 29, 1958, he was a son of Gilbert and Ruperta (Kerr) Nichols. He grew up on Granite St. in Mexico and was a graduate of Mexico High School. He attended the University of Maine at Machias and served in the United States Army.

    WEST PARIS — Virginia M. Hackett, 90, of West Paris passed away quietly on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 under the loving care of Ledgeview Living Center, where she had been a resident for six years. She was born in Malden, MA on September 29, 1922, the daughter of Leslie and Florence Marks Sweezey.

    She graduated from Malden High School and attended Burdett College for one year. She had been a secretary and bookkeeper for the family lumber business. She was involved with the Girl Scouts and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

    BETHEL — Catherine L. McMillin, 91, of Bethel passed away March 16, 2013 at Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center in Norway with her niece, Patty Marie and dear friend, Jeanne Boelsma at her side. She was born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada on September 26, 1921 to John and Virginia Edgerly McMillin. She graduated from Gould Academy in 1940. She enjoyed skiing in her younger years. She golfed at the Bethel Inn and Paris Hill golf clubs. She loved swimming at the head of the lake in Bryant Pond and at Angevine Park in Bethel.

    OXFORD — Richard E. Varney, 73, of Oxford, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Ledgeview Living Center in West Paris. He was born in Lewiston on March 13, 1940, son of Eugene and Estelle (Safford) Varney.

    He was a graduate of Norway High School, class of 1958. He attended Bliss College in Lewiston with an associate degree in Accounting. He served his country proudly in the United States Army.

  • Worden Frank Hale, Jr.

    WINSLOW — Worden Frank Hale, Jr., 80, passed away at the Hospice unit at Togus Veterans Hospital on Saturday, March 16, 2013. He was born in Bellows Falls, VT on May 31, 1932, the son of Worden Hale, Sr. and Esther (Anderson) Hale. He graduated from Bellows Falls High School and attended Vermont School of Agriculture and later served two years in the Army from 1953 to 1955.

    POLAND — Audrey J. White, 85, of Poland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2013, surrounded by her family at the Hospice House in Auburn. She was born March 4, 1928 in Mars Hill, the daughter of James and Jean Harrison. She married William M. White, Jr. on April 17, 1949. She worked and volunteered in retail, social services, foster care and churches throughout her life, still actively volunteering at the Good Shepherd Food Bank until just days before her death.
