    PARIS — Iva E. Yates died at Market Square Health Care Center in South Paris on Monday, January 7, 2013, at the age of 94. She was born in Woodstock on October 19, 1918, the daughter of Hannah Emmons Yates and Lendall Bishop Yates. Her father died while the family lived in Yarmouth, as he was the proprietor of a general store there. After his death in 1924, her mother took the girls to live with her sister Lucy and her husband Ralph Richardson in Norway. Miss Yates was a 1936 graduate of Norway High School.

    GLOVERSVILLE, NY — Pauline M. Bray, 86, of Gloversville passed away peacefully Monday evening, January 14, 2013 at Nathan Littauer Hospital on what would have been her and her husband’s 67th wedding anniversary. Born in Portland on June 6, 1926, the daughter of the late Everett and Marion Stevens Ball, she moved to this area in 1968. She worked for a time at the former Barkers Department Store.

    WOODSTOCK — Jane Davis of Woodstock lost her year and a half battle with ovarian cancer on January 4, 2013, surrounded by her family. She was a long time Mainer. She built her house up on a mountain in Woodstock to be closer to areas and people involved in her hobbies of rock hounding and gem cutting. She came to Maine from the Philadelphia area in 1983 to work for WVII-TV on a one-year contract. She decided to stay so her children could graduate from Bangor High School and never left.

    RUMFORD — A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Leo F. “Demps” Kersey, Jr. was celebrated on Friday, January 4, 2013 at the Parish of the Holy Savior St Athanasius St John Church in Rumford with Fr. Robert Vaillancourt as the celebrant. Mr. Bernard Poirier was the altar assistant. Mr. Mark Belanger was the organist. Musical selections were "Danny Boy," "The Old Rugged Cross," "How Great Thou Art," "Hosea" and "Amazing Grace."
