  • Legion plans supper, dance

    PARIS — The Jones Dance Band will be playing at the South Paris Legion Hall on Church Street on March 5, for a supper and dance. The meat loaf supper will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. for a cost of $7, and the dance will start at 6:30 p.m. and cost $5.

    The band will also be playing on March 12, 19, and 26, from 7 to 10 p.m. The cost will be $5 and the lunch counter will be open.

  • SeniorsPlus ChocoLArt event set

    LEWISTON — SeniorsPlus announces ChocoLArt, a chocolate-tasting event and silent art auction to benefit SeniorsPlus Meals on Wheels and other programs, helping maintain the independence, dignity, and quality of life of older adults and adults with disabilities.

  • Crafters sought for apple festival

    ALFRED — The Shaker Hill Apple Festival will be taking place on the beautiful grounds of an old Shaker village on Shaker Hill Road in Alfred on Saturday and Sunday, September 24 and 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Maine 4-H Tech Wizards project launch - volunteers needed

    BRYANT POND — The University of Maine Cooperative Extension has received funding to implement the National 4-H Tech Wizards Program. The mission of 4-H Tech Wizards-Maine is to engage students ages eight to 17 in small group mentoring programs focusing on the use of technology. This program puts special emphasis on service learning, fulfilling community needs focusing on conservation projects. Tech Wizards will be held both in classrooms and after school, encouraging students to gain knowledge in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) related fields.

  • Chili cookoff!

    CONTESTANTS — Eight Oxford residents arrived at the Oxford Community Recreation Center on February 19th to see if their chili would be voted the “Best Chili in Oxford.” Participates from left, Scot Moore, Kurt Lovely, Ellen Morrison, Penny Haslett, Tracey Cox, Pat Frye, Peter Smedberg and Jade Smedberg. Jade and Peter Smedberg were the winners.

  • Kiwanis breakfast slated

    PARIS — The Kiwanis Club of Norway-Paris is holding its annual Winter Breakfast and Book Fair/Swap fundraiser on Saturday, March 5 at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in the Culinary Arts area.

    Time: 8-11 a.m. Cost is $6 - Kids 12 and under eat free.

  • New book sale chair announced

    BOOK SALE CHAIRPERSON — The Friends of Norway Memorial Library announce that Chris Long will be the new chairperson for the summer used book sale held annually on the day of the Norway Arts Festival. Chris is pictured here with Barbara Howard, the outgoing chairperson, as the book sale notebook is passed from Barbara to Chris.
