  • Webcam captures falcons laying eggs

    GORTHAM — BioDiversity Research Institute (BRI) announced today that its webcam has captured a Peregrine Falcon laying its first egg of the season; the egg was dropped at about 8:45 a.m. on Friday, March 18. Visitors to BRI’s website, www.briloon.org, can watch the daily nesting activities of this pair of falcons in a 24-hour live feed that is offered to the public free of charge in partnership with the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife (MDIFW), the Maine Department of Transportation, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and NextEra Energy Resources.

  • Supper benefits Relay For Life

    OXFORD — Relay For Life of Oxford Hills is planning a Spaghetti Dinner with proceeds benefiting the event. Tickets are available at the door and cost $5 for adults, $3 for children 12 years and under, or $15 for a family of four. Melby’s Market and Eatery from Waterford is generously sponsoring this event. This dinner is planned for Friday, March 25, from 5-7 p.m. at the Oxford Advent Christian Church, Main Street in Oxford.

    MEXICO — Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice is again offering the popular six-week exercise program called Moving Freely. Although designed for senior citizens, men and women of all ages are welcome to attend these classes. No matter what your age, if you have often thought of joining an exercise class but felt intimidated by the intensity of other programs, Moving Freely may be the answer for you.

  • Camp Sunshine benfits from event

    CASCO — Camp Sunshine, a one-of-a-kind national retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families, recently announced that the Auburn-based Pine Tree Trail Riders presented an $800 check to support Maine families following a two-day charity ride this past fall. To date, the club has raised nearly $4,000 for Camp Sunshine.

    LOVELL — Lovell area residents, come join your neighbors and friends for a spaghetti dinner, compliments of Lovell Neighborhood Watch. Show your appreciation for law enforcement members. This will take place on Saturday, March 26 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Lovell VFW.

  • Dempsey Center presents variety show

    LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center is offering a free five-week workshop for children and teens bursting with talent or craving the spotlight. “Kids Who Care: Cancer Variety Show” will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning April 19, from 4 – 5:30 p.m. at CMMC, 12 High Street. Conference rooms will vary between H and I.

    OXFORD — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Friday at 9:15 a.m. in the Rec. building on King St. in Oxford. A five-table Howell movement was enjoyed.
