  • Dempsey Center offers Intentional Living workshop

    LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center is offering a free spiritual coaching course to cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. “Tools for Intentional Living and Transformation” is a six-week program presented by spiritual director Teresa A. Schulz. Sessions will take place Mondays from 4:30 – 6 p.m. at CMMC, 12 High Street, conference room I.

  • Dempsey Center offers Lymphedema workshop

    LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center is offering a free workshop on lymphedema. “What is Lymphedema? The Diagnosis and Treatment” will take place Tuesday, April 5 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at CMMC, 12 High Street, conference room H.

    Patients who have had surgery and/or radiation treatment for breast cancer may be at risk for developing lymphedema. Presenter Lorri Pelletier, OTR/L, CLT-LANA, WCC, MS, will discuss the signs, symptoms and treatment options available to help manage this condition.

  • Babysitting 101 offered

    SOUTH PARIS — Girl Scouts is offering a "Babysitting 101" training program for all area girls in grades six to eight. The program will include: getting your baby-sitting business started; playtime ideas for children of all ages; understanding the likes and dislikes of children; troubleshooting and solutions to the most common problems a baby-sitter faces and Babysitting 101 certification.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY — Auxiliary President Linda Jack and Legion Commander Jason Turgeon pose in front of the birthday cake served during a recent auxiliary old fashioned boiled dinner for the Legionnaires. The auxiliary donated $500 to the post and will also pay the next two light bills.

  • Historical Society to put collections on-line

    BETHEL — A generous and much-appreciated financial gift from Bethel Historical Society members Ned and Susan Robertson of Solon, OH, has allowed the organization to purchase more than $1000 worth of computer software and hardware to greatly enhance its ability to catalog collections and share them on-line. Recognizing that the Bethel Society owns or has access to a wealth of historical artifacts, photographs, archives and books, the Robertsons offered to fund a major upgrade to the “PastPerfect” software already in use by staff and volunteers.
