  • Classes for caregivers

    NORWAY — “Maine Savvy Caregiver Project” is for family caregivers of people with dementia.

    This free 12-hour (six-week) course will start in Fryeburg at the Public Library and in Norway at Stephens Memorial Hospital on Thursday, June 9. This course trains family caregivers in how to assess the abilities of a person with dementia and feel more confident in the skills of caregiving.

  • Elm Vale Chapter presents award

    EASTERN STAR — In Harrison at Elmville Chapter #105, the Order of the Eastern Star is presented by Norma Crabtree for 50 years of membership to Roberta and Daniel Scribner. Beverly Cobb read to the membership what it means to earn this honor. Star members have fun through fellowship, travel, and achieve pride in their ritual work.   • June blood drives

    LOCAL — The following local blood drives will be held for the month of June:

    June 15 — Masonic Oxford Lodge 18 on 9 Temple Street in Norway, from 1 to 6 p.m.

    June 18 — Hannaford Supermarket on 109 Portland Road in Bridgton, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    June 30 — American Legion Post 112 on 169 King Street in Oxford, from 1 to 6 p.m.

  • The Crag Ratz, biting the bullet and model airplanes

    HARRISON – Forty-five-year-old Lloyd Robinson was born and grew up in London. After traveling parts of Europe and the US, he decided to plant his roots in Maine.

    He recently took time to tell us about his life.

    Q: When were you born and where were you brought up?

    A: I was born on April 26, 1966 in Paddington, London. London is broken up into boroughs, but there are regions within those boroughs. Paddington is in West London.

    DIRIGO CANDIDATES — The Dirigo Girls State candidates and alternates from Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School are sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, Foster-Carroll Unit #72.     TECHNICALLY SPEAKING — Senior Nolan Kilfoyle receives the Oxford Hills Technical School Student of the Year award at the 33rd Annual Student Awards Night on May 18.

  • Meet candidates at Harrison Library

    HARRISON — The Harrison Village Library is pleased to once again present “Meet the Candidates,” an informal evening devoted to learning more about the candidates for the town’s elected offices. In addition to those appearing on the ballot, write-in candidates are also encouraged to participate; please contact the library if you would like to be included. This event will take place on Tuesday, May 31, at 6:30 p.m.
