  • Maine State Parks looking for lifeguards

    AUGUSTA — The Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands (BPL) is looking for a few good lifeguards - 13 to be exact.

    Thirteen lifeguard and four lifeguard supervisor positions are available for certified applicants at a number of waterfront state parks around Maine, according to Brian Murray, BPL Lifeguard Academy coordinator and park manager for Popham Beach State Park.

    ALA LUNCH — National President Carlene Ashworth of American Legion Auxiliary recently visited Maine Units. Stone-Smart unit 82 hosted a lunch for her.     Supper

    HARTFORD — A benefit supper for the Dunham family will be held Saturday, May 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria at the Hartford-Sumner Elementary School. Donations only. This is being sponsored by the Sumner Fire Auxiliary, Sumner Mothers’ Club and Mt. Tom Snowmobile Club to help the Dunham family after their tragic fire.

  • Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge results

    OXFORD — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Friday at 9:15 a.m. in the Rec. building on King St. in Oxford. A five-table Howell movement was enjoyed.

    Finishing first in flight A were Rosemarie Goodwin (Lewiston) and Luke Merry (New Gloucester) with a 78 percent game. Second were Nancy Farmer (Norway) and Marta Clements (Woodstock). Third were Pat and Mike Quinn (Otisfield).

  • Appreciating teachers

    TEACHERS WEEK – Paris Elementary School teachers were treated with numerous surprises during Teacher’s Appreciation Week. Each day of the week, the PTO showed their gratitude by serving the teachers breakfast, happy notes and small gifts in their mailboxes and even free massages.   • Bridgton Hospital Diabetes Clinic to offer diabetes education program

    BRIDGTON — The Bridgton Hospital Diabetes Clinic will sponsor its four-part Diabetes Education Program on June 13, June 14, June 20 and June 21, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The sessions will be held in the Bridgton Hospital Specialty Clinic Lobby.
