Appreciating teachers
May 12, 2011 12:00 amTEACHERS WEEK – Paris Elementary School teachers were treated with numerous surprises during Teacher’s Appreciation Week. Each day of the week, the PTO showed their gratitude by serving the teachers breakfast, happy notes and small gifts in their mailboxes and even free massages. Bridgton Hospital Diabetes Clinic to offer diabetes education program

Cancer awareness day planned in West Paris
May 12, 2011 12:00 amWEST PARIS — The "Aurora Shines Cancer Awareness Day" will be held Saturday, May 21 in West Paris. This awareness/fundraising event is facilitated by Ardith Dechello, whose sister Aurora is the inspiration for the event. Aurora had battled two types of cancer and is now fighting stage two brain cancer.
Saving the Union event held
May 12, 2011 12:00 amLINCOLN REMEMBERED — On Friday, April 15, members of Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War from Tent #17 of Bryant Pond, Tend #19 of Stoneham, and Tent #23 of Abbott, traveled to Augusta to attend "Saving the Union, The Call for Volunteers." This event commemorated the 150th anniversaty of President Abraham Lincoln's proclamation ordering states to call forth a Militia following the bombardment of Fort Sumter; the start of the Civil War.
AARP driver class set
May 12, 2011 12:00 amBRIDGTON — An AARP driver safety class for drivers age 50 and older, sponsored by the Bridgton Hospital, will be presented from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Bridgton Community Center, 15 Depot St. in Bridgton on Monday, June 6.
The registration fee is $12 for AARP members, $14 for others. Advance registration is required as class size is limited. To register, phone John Hammon, volunteer instructor, at 655-4943.

May 12, 2011 12:00 amLUNCH CELEBRATION — American Legion Auxiliary of Unit #72 joined Unit #82 and other Units to celebrate Carlene Ashworth, National President and Nancy True, State Department President, who visited the Oxford Hills area on April 14. A plentiful luncheon buffet was served and gifts were offered. Unit #72 representatives were Elsi Pechnik, Sylvia Michaud-Kessell and Joyce Linindoll.

The Thrift Shop is conveniently located across from TD Bank and next to Reny's, in downtown Bridgton, and Mrs. Hammerlee and her staff will welcome your donations and provide you a tax deductible receipt - all with a smile.

Accepting vendor applications
