  • Students to share trip

    OXFORD HILLS — The public is invited May 25 to an Evening on China event at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in Suth Paris.

    The event begins at 7 p.m.  in the Culinary room.

    There will be a film about the trip  and students and teachers will then talk a bit about China. The Chinese teacher will also be there. There will be light refreshments.

  • Rosenblatt retiring from library

    NORWAY — Norway Memorial Library announces the retirement of staff member Allison Rosenblatt as Teen Services Coordinator at the end of May. There will be a reception for Allison at the library on Thursday, May 26, from 2-5 p.m. for those who wish to drop by to wish her well.

    AWARD PRESENTED — The Stone-Smart Unit # 82 proudly held a luncheon for honoring our National President, Carlene Ashworth with many Auxiliary members attending from units including Norway, South Paris, West Paris, Oxford, Buckfield, Naples, South Portland and our American Legion Auxiliary Maine Department President, Nancy True.

  • Civil War reenactment at Norlands

    LIVERMORE — The third Rally for Norlands: Civil War Reenactment will take place Saturday and Sunday, June 4 and 5 at the Washburn-Norlands Living History Center, 290 Norlands Road in Livermore. The event will run from 9 a.m. to  9 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Cost is $5-$8 for one day $8-$14 for a weekend pass.

  • St. Peter’s plant and bake sale set

    BRIDGTON — Summer warm weather is upon us and many activities are happening in the Lake Region Area. Please join in at St. Peter’s Church for their annual Plant and Bake Sale on the lawn of the church, located at 42 Sweden Road (Rt. 93) in Bridgton, on Saturday, May 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The annual event at the church this year also includes a yard sale for those special treasures you may collect or a vase for your garden flowers.

  • Cruise-ins planned at Tractor Supply

    OXFORD — The Uptown Cruizahs cruisep-ins are set to start on Monday, May 23 and continue every Monday night (weather permitting) at Tractor Supply on Rt. 26 in Oxford from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

    There will be fun, food, and amusement. Spectators are welcome to enjoy the sights while talking to proud owners and car enthusiasts. If you have a car of interest bring it and share with others.

    The Uptown Cruizahs car club raises money throughout the year with their pie auctions, 50/50s and other fundraisers to benefit such causes as the Veteran's Home and Santa visits Oxford.

  • Maine author celebrates release of new mystery

    BETHEL — William D. Andrews will celebrate the release of "Breaking Ground" with a talk and book signing at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at the Bethel Historical Society, 10-14 Broad St., Bethel. The event will be held at the Mason House exhibit hall on the Bethel Common.
