  • Oxford Hills/Buckfield adult ed

    PARIS — There's still plenty of classes available at Oxford Hills/Buckfield Adult Education for March!

    Wednesday, March 13

    Is Stress Running Your Life? with Chris and Paula Easton, 6-8 p.m. One session. Tuition is $25.

    Monday, March 18

    American Heart Saver First Aid/CPR/AED with Angela McAllister, 5-8:30 p.m. One week, Monday and Tuesday. Tuition is $75.

    Tuesday, March 21

    Basic Astronomy with Tom Hoffelder 7-8:30 p.m. Four weeks. Tuition is $25.

  • Woodlot management course is scheduled

    PARIS — A six-week course in Beginning Woodlot Management begins at 7 p.m. March 12 at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. Sponsored by the Maine Forest Service, the course for woodlot owners will feature such topics as tree identification, wildlife management, deeds and boundaries, timber harvesting, forestry taxes and regulations and working with a consulting forester. There is a $20 charge, which covers all materials.

  • Finnish classes are offered

    WEST PARIS — Finnish language classes for beginners and intermediates will be held at the Finnish-American Heritage Center on 8 Maple Street in West Paris, on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon, beginning on April 6, and running through May 11. Marja-Leena Bailey and Aire-Maija Schwann will be the instructors.

    Registration is required by March 17, and will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.

  • Quilters garage sale slated

    AUGUSTA — A Quilters & Crafters Garage Sale will be Saturday, March 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Mark's Church, 9 Summer St. in Augusta with a large variety of craft items available.

    There will also be items for scrapbooking, basketmaking, quilting, knitting, crocheting, beading and miscellaneous.

    Admission is free; parking is free and the church is handicap accessible.

    NORWAY — Upcoming events at Norway Memorial Library include the following:

    Read Across America - celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday on Friday, March 1 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Come have fun with the Lorax and friends and enjoy Seussical crafts, games, and snacks!

    Family Story Time - On Saturday, March 16, at 11 am. there will be a special story and craft related to St. Patrick's Day.

    Beadalicious - On Wednesday, March 27, at 3:30 p.m., the fuse beads will be out at the library. Come and spend some time making a beautiful work of art!

    POLAND — The third program in the series that is being presented by the Ricker Memorial Library in Poland to celebrate its 50th anniversary year will be held on Tuesday, March 12 at 6:30 p.m.

    They have planned a fun evening of "Books Beano." Names of authors will replace the numbers in each square. Winners will be rewarded. For more information, call 998-4390. Please join in at the library Community Room on Route 26 in Poland
