Jul 07, 2011 12:00 amNEW GENERATION — Douglas and Bonnie Van Durme discovered this eagle aerie with their daughter Erica and granddaughter Makenna, Saturday. The nest, with what appears to be two eaglets or chicks, is along the left side of Penneseewasee Lake, northwest edge by Ledgebrook Lane.
Androscoggin River Watershed Council announces 16th annual Source to the Sea Trek
Jun 30, 2011 12:00 amBETHEL — Over the course of nearly 170 miles, hundreds of paddlers will stroke down the Androscoggin River during the 16th annual Source to the Sea Trek, which this year is scheduled for July 8 through August 7.
The Trek will begin with a sunset paddle near Lake Umbagog, the source of the Androscoggin, continue in a series of 19 day trips as paddlers meander through northern New Hampshire and Western Maine, and end in Brunswick, where the river enters Merrymeeting Bay. Paddlers may join the trip for one day or many.

Posting the group-gathering areas at town-owned ball parks, play grounds, parks and beaches as Smoke Free is not a requirement by law but it helps the 75 percent of the population that is non-smoking (and 100% of the children) to breathe fresh air. Along with the quilt show, and new this year, there will be displays and sales of fiber art. What can be done to make rental housing more affordable?
Jun 30, 2011 12:00 amI'd like to say that the government should help these young families but that can be like a Band-Aid. Jobs would be a huge bonus. If there were more jobs in the area people would be more able to afford rent.

BMV braces for increase in license renewals
Jun 30, 2011 12:00 amAUGUSTA — The Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) is expecting a significant increase in driver's license renewals beginning July 1. License renewals are projected to nearly double, increasing from 128,170 (January 2010-June 2011) to 237,435 (July 2011-December 2012).
