  • Event planned at Ricker Library

    POLAND — The third program in the series that is being presented by the Ricker Memorial Library in Poland to celebrate its 50th anniversary year will be held on Tuesday, March 12 at 6:30 p.m.

    They have planned a fun evening of "Books Beano." Names of authors will replace the numbers in each square. Winners will be rewarded. For more information, call 998-4390. Please join in at the library Community Room on Route 26 in Poland

  • Pajama Storytime to celebrate gift

    HARRISON — Harrison Village Library has received a gift of 100 new children’s books, ranging from pre-kindergarten through early readers.

    The books were a donation from The Brownstone Book Fund, a private foundation in New York City, interested in fostering early reading, a love of books, and encouraging parents and children to read together.

    The library is celebrating this gift with a Pajama Storytime on Saturday, March 2, from 10 a.m.-12 noon. Come in your jammies and bring your favorite teddy to hear special guests read from the new books.

    Food Bank

    POLAND — A Food Bank Fundraiser with matching grant will be held Saturday, March 23 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Poland Community Church, 1212 Maine St. in Poland. Sales tables include Twice Nice, Silent Auction, Quilt Raffle, Spring and Easter gifts, children’s games, bakery and homemade candies.

    Luncheon will be offered at 11:15 a.m. There will be a special soup, fish chowder and finger sandwiches. For more information or donations, call 998-4227.

  • Ministry has moved

    PARIS — Alpha & Omega Ministries Inc. has just completed moving its 24-foot by 60-foot double wide from its former location, 29 Brown Street at the NPSW transfer station, to its new location at 527 Park Street in South Paris. The two shops can be found just three miles north of Market Square on busy Route 26.

    The sales space has doubled and it’s easy to access with plenty of parking space to enter the Alpha & Omega Thrift Shop or the newly added Furniture Depot. The ministry has expanded days and hours of operation to better serve the community.

  • Chowdah Fest is scheduled

    BRYANT POND — Franklin Grange 124 in Bryant Pond is hosting a chowdah fest on Thursday, February 21, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Woodstock Elementary School on Rumford Avenue in Bryant Pond.

    The cost is $8. The menu will include a variety of chowders or American chop suey or chili, rolls, beverages and assorted desserts. Proceeds will help raise funds to enlarge the town's Honor Roll. Hope to see you there.
