  • CPR, first aid course slated

    OXFORD — There will be an American Heart Association CPR and First Aid class on Saturday, March 9, at 10 a.m. at the Oxford Public Safety Building.

    On completion of the one-day class, you will receive a certificate that is good for two years. This certificate course is accepted for day/child care providers, loggers, guides, teachers and any other non-healthcare related professions.

    Future scheduled classes will be April 10, May 4 and June 8. Please call to confirm dates. Groups may also request to schedule a class at their convenience.

  • Goulet family benefit planned

    MECHANIC FALLS — A Goulet Family Benefit Dinner and Dance will be held Friday, March 8 at the American Legion Post 150 in Mechanic Falls. Help support a family who has given endless support to the community over the years.

    Rusty Goulet, son of Sue and Lou, was injured in a snowmobile accident and while recovering in the hospital, their Mechanic Falls home caught on fire. The home is a total loss and they have no insurance.

  • Breakfast, children's book fair Saturday

    COMMUNITY BREAKFAST — Join Cat in the Hat, Tigger, Donald Duck and Penny the Owl at the Norway-Paris Kiwanis Club’s Annual Community Breakfast and Children's Book Fair, which will be held Saturday, March 9, in the OHCHS Culinary Arts dining room.

  • Pet Rescue is the topic

    POLAND — "Animals on the Move; Pet Rescue through Relocation" is the topic to be discussed by Taylor Slemmer at the Person to Person Potluck/Program, a monthly event sponsored by Friends of Ricker Library.

    Slemmer, who has worked in animal welfare since 1997, is currently the Volunteer and Transport Coordinator at Coastal Humane Society in Brunswick.

    She has arranged for more than 300 dogs and cats to travel from places as far away as Puerto Rico and California to new homes in Maine.

    Supper

    BUCKFIELD — A benefit supper for the Maine Bisons will be held Saturday, March 16, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Masonic Hall in Buckfield. Donations will be accepted so pay what you wish. The menu will include beans, hot dogs, cole slaw, potato salad and rolls.

    The Maine Bisons, a youth group from the Hartford, Sumner, Buckfield area, will be heading to Buffalo, NY, this summer for their annual mission trip to help those in need.

  • Invisible War to show in Bridgton

    BRIDGTON — On Monday, March 11 at 6:30 p.m., Tri-County Mental Health Services and the Maine VISTA Program will be hosting a free viewing of the 2013 Oscar nominated documentary feature, "The Invisible War," at Stevens Brook Elementary School in Bridgton

    Family Crisis Services and Rape Education & Crisis Hotline/Sexual Assault Prevention & Response Services (REACH/SAPARS) are collaborating with Tri-County and the Maine VISTA Program on this event.

  • Welsh to speak at library program

    BRYANT POND — Carol Lillieqvist Welsh will be the guest speaker at the Whitman Memorial Library on Thursday, March 14, at 2 p.m.

    Carol, adoptee, birthmother and adoptive mother's mission is to shine light on human strength and resilience, raise awareness of the complexities of adoption, and inspire artistic design and the written word through her jewelry and her book, "360 Square." She lives in Norway.

    The program is open to the public at no charge and light refreshments will be served.
