  • RPC gets spay/neuter grants

    NORWAY — Responsible Pet Care has received a grant from the Maine Community Foundation to assist low income pet owners in Oxford County and Harrison with the cost to spay and neuter their pets.

    This grant will fund $75 for pit terrier/bully breed type dogs, $50 for all other breed dogs, and up to $25 for cats. For those that qualify for the FIX ME Spay/Neuter program through Maine Animal Welfare, the fund will pay the co-pays of $10 and $20, making spay/neuter through that program absolutely free.

  • Free community meditation class

    NORWAY — A free community meditation class will be offered on Sunday, March 17, from 5 to 6 p.m. by Kathryn Gardner, LMT, RYT at Posabilities - Physical Therapy, Yoga, Yoga Therapy.

    Kathryn will be leading this class for beginning meditators as well as those who have some experience and would like to deepen their practice. Class will include theory and discussion, a brief posture and breathing practice and sitting meditation.

  • 'Online' workshop set for farmers

    NORWAY — On Tuesday, March 19, from 4 to 7 p.m., the Western Mountains Alliance, in partnership with Fare Share Co-op and the Norway Farmers Market, will sponsor a workshop for interested farmers, producers and community members at Western Maine Un. & Community College Center, 232 Main St., So. Paris.  Snow date is March 26.  .

    This workshop is open to any farmer or producer interested in supplying Fare Share Local on Line or using online marketing tools, and to any community member interested in joining Local on Line or starting their own online buying club.

  • Class of '68 plans reunion

    PARIS — The 45th Class Reunion for the Oxford Hills High School Class of 1968 is scheduled for Saturday, July 6 from 12 to 4 p.m. at the South Paris Legion Hall on Church Street in South Paris.

    The plans include a light lunch, music and dancing. It is a pre-registered B.Y.O.B. event. Registration materials will be in the mail within the next few weeks.

  • Public interest forum slated

    NORWAY — A public interest forum "Assault on Jeju — Island of Peace," a film showing and presentation by Regis Tremblay, will be held on Thursday, March 21, at 7 p.m. at Fare Share Commons, 443 Main Street in Norway.

    Regis Tremblay is a documentary filmmaker from Woolwich. He just returned from Jeju Island, South Korea, where he filmed the documentary, "Jeju — In the Crosshairs of War."

  • Inside-out yard sale set

    PARIS — Alpha & Omega Ministries Inc./Alpha & Omega Thrift Shop has moved to its new location at 527 Park Street in South Paris (just three miles out of South Paris Square going North on Route 26, on the right two miles from Doe's).

    Its ever-popular Indoor/Outdoor Yard Sale is scheduled for Thursday, March 14 through Sunday, March 17, weather permitting.

    Expanded days and hours - closed Mondays, open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday 1-5 p.m. Call Bert and arrange other hours for customer service.
