Waterford fair meeeting
Nov 10, 2011 12:00 amWATERFORD — The next meeting of the Waterford World's Fair is at the Waterford Town office on Sunday, November 13 at 2 p.m.
All members, directors and anyone interested in the Fair are encouraged to attend this meeting to hear the results of the Fryeburg Fair Food booth and the financial status of the fair. Also it is time to make sure everything at the Fairgrounds has been taken care of for winter.
There are still a few spots available for winter storage of boats and campers and you can call President Dana Hemingway at 595-2430 for more info on this.
Community meeting planned

As the economy continues to show no new signs of life, and the era of cheap fuel draws to an end, we are all wondering what the future will look like. Locally-grown food is the future for Maine. The Alan Day Community Garden exists to help transition into a local food economy, to educate people about growing food, to strengthen community bonds, feed Maine families and improve health naturally.

FRYEBURG — A Christmas Cupboard will be held Saturday, November 19, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Fryeburg New Church on 12 Oxford Street in Fryeburg. Upstairs and downstairs there will be handmade items, crafts, candy, baked goods, Christmas wreaths and white elephants. Coffee and donuts will be available while you shop. A raffle will be drawn at noon.

Hope amidst despair
Nov 10, 2011 12:00 amAIDS HOPE — Author and Professor Susanna Grannis, left, displays a copy of her latest book, "Hope Amidst Despair" at a book-signing at Books N Things on Monday. Grannis founded the group Children Affected by HIV/AIDS, and her experiences in Africa are part of the basis for the book. "It's really hard for people to connect with children with AIDS," said Grannis. "They find it depressing. It's a downer. But we've found that there's reason for hope, and that's the story I tell."
SMH honors volunteers

Timothy A. Churchill, President and Chief Executive Officer of Western Maine Health, thanked the volunteers for all the work they do over the course of the year. He recognized the commitment volunteers make to the hospital and Market Square and the overall benefit they provide.
