  • Area egg hunts set

    OXFORD — Oxford Recreation will host an Easter Egg Party on Saturday, March 30 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. They will have games and prizes from 11 a.m.-12 noon and an Easter Egg Hunt promptly at noon. Bring your Easter Basket.

    DOVER-FOXCROFT — Local artisans, craftspeople, tradespeople, agriculture, forestry and historians are being sought to join the Piscataquis Heritage Hot Air Balloon Festival.

    A large part of the Piscataquis Heritage Hot Air Balloon Festival is the “Heritage” section which will be filled with local artisans and crafters who will be creating, demoing and selling their products. They are focused on the hand made. In the Trades section, talented tradesmen and tradeswomen will be demoing their trades and many will offer hands-on opportunities to the public.

    SPRING FESTIVAL — Gina Buchko and Raven Cutler make leprechaun masks at the Paris Public Library spring festival Saturday, March 23. Featured were a variety of stories and crafts celebrating spring and the holidays of St. Patrick’s Day and Easter plus an Easter egg hunt.

    LEWISTON — The University of Maine Cooperative Extension is pleased to sponsor the 20th annual Maine Garden Day on Saturday, April 6 at the Lewiston High School, 156 East Avenue in Lewiston. This annual extravaganza features over 37 gardening workshops from local gardening experts and a tradeshow with educational displays as well as plants, seeds and tools for purchase.

    SOUTH PORTLAND — Spring snowstorms have the potential to wreak havoc on the lives of many wild birds struggling to find enough food to survive the long, cold nights.

    Many people mistakenly believe that once the brunt of winter is over, birds can easily fend for themselves. However, even under normal weather conditions, spring is a difficult and stressful time for birds.

    Crafters wanted

    RUMFORD — Crafters are wanted for the “Anything Goes” Spring Craft Fair and Indoor Yard Sale, to be held at Hope Association, 85 Lincoln Ave. in Rumford on Saturday, May 11, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Table rentals will be on a first come, first served basis so be sure to get your application, accompanied by $10 donation, in early; deadline is April 15. Table rental proceeds will benefit Hope Association’s Special Olympics Program. For more information, call 364-4561.
