  • Community clean up at sports complex

    NORWAY — The Norway Parks & Recreation Department and Norway Youth Baseball will hold the annual Community Spring Clean Up at Lovejoy Farm Sports Complex on Saturday, April 13 from 8 a.m.-noon.

    The work will consist of raking, edging the infields, weed-eating around fences, etc.

    Come enjoy fellowship and sunshine for an hour or all morning; any time you give is appreciated and helps ready the ball fields for spring, summer and fall use. Please bring your own gloves and rakes.

  • Public interest forum slated

    NORWAY — A public interest forum "Seeds for Local and Global Sustainability" will be held Thursday, April 18, at 7 p.m. at Fare Share Common, 443 Main Street in Norway. Mark Silber will be the presenter.

    Mark's discussion will be about seeds. He is a farmer, teacher, anthropologist, photographer and former public official. His home and farm are in Sumner.

  • Scavenger Hunt at area libraries

    OXFORD HILLS — The Public Libraries of the Oxford Hills, celebrating National Library Week, and in support of MSAD 17’s vocabulary-building initiative, are offering the public a vocabulary scavenger-hunt contest.

    From April 15 to April 30, the seven libraries (Freeland Holmes, Hamlin, Harrison, Norway, Paris, Waterford and West Paris) will each be displaying 24 vocabulary words related to literature around their buildings.

    NORWAY — The Norway Memorial Library joins libraries in Oxford Hills, throughout the state of Maine and nationwide in celebrating National Library Week, a time to highlight the value of libraries.

    This year’s theme is “communities matter @ your library.”

    HARRISON — The Ronald St John VFW Post on the Waterford Road in Harrison will be having a BYOB dance on Saturday, April 13 at the post from 8 p.m. until 12 a.m. Admission is $10 per person for 21 and over. The band will be the Tina Kelly Band. For more information, call Ellen at 583-4558.
