  • Garments of Praise

    PARIS — Garments of Praise will be open every Tuesday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the South Paris Baptist Church, 1 Park Street. This is a thrift shop for gently used clothing. Men's, women's and children's clothing is carried for a suggested donation.
 Gently used clothing is now being accepted for donation at this location. The shop is currently in need of children's and youth clothing. For more information, call Gayle Flagg at 743-6396.

    SUMNER — The Sumner Volunteer Fire Department will be holding their annual garage, bake and plant sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, at the fire station on Route 219 in Sumner. Refreshments will be on sale and there will also be a door prize. If you wish to donate items you can call Lucy at 388-2824 or Wilda at 388-2981.

  • Waterford World's Fair plans yard sale

    WATERFORD — The Waterford World's Fair will be hosting a yard sale on Saturday, June 15 starting at 8 a.m. Mark your calendar because all residents of the Town of Waterford will not have to pay for an outside space and the inside of the Dance Hall is $10 per table. The Fairgrounds is located at 36 Green Road (across from Melby's Market) in North Waterford. If you might have articles that you would like to get out of the attic, cellar or garage the fair can take them of your hands, just no appliances or computer equipment, please.

  • Norway Memorial Day parade

    NORWAY — The Memorial Day parade will be held on Monday, May 27, at 9 a.m., beginning by the Advertiser Democrat and will proceed down Main Street with a brief wreath placing ceremony at the Civil War Monument and will finish at the Norway Veterans Memorial Park, across from the American Legion.

  • Pottle Hill Community "Run for our Schools"

    MECHANIC FALLS — The famous road race that supported Pathways for so many years will be hosted this year by the Tri-Town Education Fund on June 22 as a part of Mechanic Falls Community Day. The one-mile Fun Run/Walk Race for kids and their families will start at 8:30 a.m., with the 5K Road Race going off at 9 a.m. and the 10K Road Race (considered one of the toughest in Maine) to follow at 9:10 a.m. The fee will be $30 per family, $15 over age 18, $10 age 15 to 18, and $5 for age 14 and under.

  • Library Gift Shop now open

    HARRISON — The HVL Gift Shop at Harrison Village Library is now open for business! Located in the library’s meeting room, the shop offers gently used books, gifts and objects for the home at very reasonable prices. Proceeds help the library to meet its operating costs.

  • Norway Memorial Library presents gardening program

    NORWAY — The Norway Memorial Library announces a free program on gardening basics Thursday, May 23 from 7-8:30 p.m. The public is invited to come and learn about preparing gardens for planting, the best fertilizers to use, maintaining a garden, and what vegetables grow best in Maine. The guest speaker is Diane York of Bryant Pond. Diane, a lifelong gardener, is involved in the Master Gardener volunteer program of the Cooperative Extension in Oxford County, and has taught adult education classes at Buckfield High School and at Rumford Hospital.
