    STATEWIDE — For the fifth year in a row, Dunkin' Donuts and the American Red Cross are teaming up for the "Give a Pint, Get a Pound" campaign, which provides a coupon for a free pound of Dunkin' Donuts coffee to all presenting donors at Red Cross blood drives in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont during the month of January.

    POLAND — The speaker for the Poland Historical Society’s Saturday, February 18 meeting will be Gregory Sherwood. Greg will be speaking on “The History of Metal Detecting." Greg is a graduate of Oxford Hills High School. He took up the hobby of metal detecting after retiring from the Air Force in Colorado and has been detecting since 1998.

  • Loon Echo Trust celebrates 25th anniversary

    BRIDGTON — Get outside with Loon Echo Land Trust for a day of family fun at Five Fields Farm in South Bridgton. In celebration of its 25th anniversary, Loon Echo Land Trust will hold the first annual Snowfest on March 3 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

    This outdoor celebration will include a 5K cross county ski race held at 11 a.m., a kids’ 1K ski race at 11:30 a.m., a 3k snowshoe race at 12 p.m., and a snowshoe scavenger hunt held on adjacent Bald Pate Mountain at 1 p.m. Races are casual and suitable for all levels.

  • Happy Birthday picnic slated

    SOUTH PARIS — The Paris Public Library will be hosting an "inside picnic" honoring past presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln on Monday, February 20 at 12 p.m. Participants should bring blankets, lunches and drinks.

    While dining, listen to stories and tidbits about our first and 16th presidents. Birthday cupcakes will be provided at the end. All ages are welcome. Tables are available for those needing alternative seating.

    A variety of self-select activities will be available to do afterwards.

  • Remembrance Walk planned

    OXFORD HILLS — Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn announces the Hospice House Remembrance Walk will be held Sunday, May 20 in the Oxford Hills area; you can register now to participate in this special event.

    Proceeds from the event are dedicated to supporting care at the Hospice House for patients who do not have adequate health insurance. Sponsorship opportunities are available and volunteers are always needed event day.
