  • Too close a shave

    OXFORD — A recent immigrant from New Hampshire was arrested Monday night, January 10, after trying to swipe a packet of disposable razors from Hannaford Supermarket.

    Oxford Police Officer Alan Coffin arrested Damon J. Farrell, 19, of Greenwood, and charged him with a class "E" misdemeanor theft, after being called to the Hannaford store on Main Street by store security personnel. Farrell, the store workers told Coffin, had a bag of disposable razors concealed and was trying to leave the store when they caught up with him.

    21:24 – Robert Jeffrey Parsons, born 6-3-66, of 1008 Gore Road, Otisfield, was arrested on Allen Hill Road by Oxford Police Officer Rickie Jack and charged with OUI and Probation Violation.

    22:20 - Dina L. Duval, born 3-18-66, of 901 B Shore Road, Cape Elizabeth, was arrested at Phonix Restaurant by Oxford County Deputy Brian T. Landis and charged with Disorderly Conduct.

  • Oxford County District Court -- December 1-31

    SOUTH PARIS — The following is the closed case report from South Paris District Court from December 1, to December 31.

    Frederick M. Abbott, DOB 11/22/82, of South Paris, was charged with License OAS-Prior on 9/5/10 in Paris by Paris Police. He was found guilty and fined $500.

    Cecil Atter, DOB 2/25/83, of Mechanic Falls, was charged with Sale and Use of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Marijuana on 8/22/10 in Norway by Norway Police. He was found guilty on both charges and fined $300 on the first and $350 on the second charge.

  • Oxford County Superior Court -- December 1-31

    SOUTH PARIS — The following is the closed case report from Oxford County Superior Court from December 1, to December 31.

    Eric S. Adams, DOB 9/30/77, of Fryeburg, was charged with two counts of OAS-Revoked-3 prior on 8/8/10 in Hiram by Maine State Police. The charges were transferred.

    Jan M. Barlow, DOB 10/18/77, of Lewiston, was charged with Assault on 4/27/09 in Mexico by Mexico Police. The charge was dropped.

    Thursday, December 30

    17:04 – Melissa D. Anthony, born 9-05-78, of 390 Main St., Stoneham, was arrested in Waterford by Maine State Trooper Adam Fillebrown and charged with Operating MV after Revocation.

    19:20 – Larry Wayne Sweetser Jr., born 11-21-79, of 23 Mason St. #23, Bethel, was arrested in Bethel by Oxford County Deputy Timothy Holland and charged with Failure to Appear.

    Friday, December 24

    11:45 – Walter B. Preble III, born 12-29-43, of 73 Granite St., Ossipee, NH, was arrested at the Carroll County Jail by Oxford County Sheriff’s Dept. and charged with Writ of Habeas Corpus.

    18:46 – Jesse M. Edgerly, born 6-9-86, of 8 Hessian Hill Rd., Cornish, was arrested at 115 S. Hiram Rd. by Oxford County Deputy Chris Davis and charged with DV Assault (D).

  • Last and first arrests of the old and new year

    Oxford County – The first person arrested in the new year, 2011, was Kurt Staples, 37, of Norway, arrested by Norway Police Officer Jeff Campbell a few minutes after midnight on New Year's. He was charged with drunk driving – again.

    According to Campbell, he was told by the Oxford County Regional Communications Center (OCRCC) to be alert for a particular car being driven “all over the road.” The officer saw the vehicle but had to turn around. In doing so, the officer lost track of it. He finally caught up with the car at a Paris convenience store.

  • OUI - January 1

    Kurt Staples, the first person arrested for OUI in Oxford County, on New Year's Day.
