  • Bridgton Police investigate attempted child abduction

    BRIDGTON — Bridgton Police are investigating an attempted abduction of a nine-year-old girl, which Chief Kevin Schofield calls "an extremely serious situation."

    "The department has been investigating this extensively for the last several days," he said.

    Schofield said he was unable to comment on who he believes the perpetrator may be. "But we have developed some leads in the case that's requiring a lot of follow-up work," Schofield explained. 

    "We have developed a person of interest that we are trying to locate to speak to," he said. 

  • CMP alerts customers to phone scam

    AUGUSTA — Central Maine Power Company (CMP) reports a rash of calls from customers who have received bill collection calls from someone identifying himself as “Carlos,” and claiming to represent CMP.

    Customers have been instructed to deposit cash or a money order into bogus accounts through convenience store cash transfer systems. The caller has tried to work his deception mostly on the owners of small businesses and restaurants in southern Maine.

    SOUTH PARIS — The following is the Closed Case Report from Maine Superior Court in Oxford County from June 1, to June 30.

    Marcia J. Ackerman, DOB 8/9/59, of Brownfield, was charged with Unlawful Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs and Cultivating Marijuana on 8/25/10 in Brownfield by Oxford Sheriff. The first charge was dropped, found guilty on the second charge and fined $3,000.

    PARIS — The following is the Closed Case Report from Maine District Court in Oxford County from June 1, to June 30.

    Lauri C. Kyllonen, DOB 9/25/48, of Oxford, was charged with Terrorizing on 1/11/11 in Norway by Norway Police. The charge was dropped.

    Sarah J. Labrecque, DOB 7/22/74, of Turner, was charged with Failing to Register Vehicle on 3/5/12 in Norway by Norway Police. She was found guilty and fined $100.

    14:00 – Scott W. Kidder, born 7-9-80, of 209 Adams Rd., Chesterville, was arrested at the park on Main St. by Rumford Police Officer Joseph Sage and charged with Failure to Appear.

    18:47 – Tanya Jean Bolduc, born 10-3-87, of 324 Lewiston Rd., Mechanic Falls, was arrested on Route 26 by Oxford Police Officer Rickie Jack and charged with Failure to Appear.

    18:35 – Shanon Mae McAlister, born 6-2-88, of 751 West Bethel Rd., Bethel, was arrested on Mayville Rd. by Oxford County Deputy Brian T. Landis and charged with Failure to Pay Fines, Violation of Bail Conditions and Criminal Trespass.
