    09:00 – Sandra Louise Goodman, born 12-3-64, of 4 Hill Rock Circle, Buckfield, was arrested in Paris by Oxford County Deputy Justin M. Brown and charged with Violating Protective Order.

    23:29 – Amber O. White, born 8-13-88, of 11 Holman Ave. Apt. #2, Mexico, was arrested at 11 Holman Ave. by Mexico Police Officer Holli Pullen and charged with two counts of Failure to Pay Fines.

    16:45 – Kevin B. Haines, born 8-20-49, of 1048 Gore Rd., Norway, was arrested at the Lake Store by Norway Police Officer Ron Cole and charged with OUI.

    20:20 – Cynthia Jean Goodrich, born 5-21-72, of 23 Mason St. Apt. 3, Bethel, was arrested by Oxford County Deputy Matthew B. Noyes and charged with Theft and Violation of Bail Conditions.

  • Police recover items from Norway Church burglary

    NORWAY —  Police on Tuesday reported that some items stolen during a recent burglary at a local church as well as evidence in the case, have been recovered. 

    Some time between August 23 at 2 p.m. and August 25 at 8:30 a.m., the Oxford Hills Christian Fellowship was burglarized and multiple items were stolen, according to Police Chief Robert Federico. 

    Stolen items from the first floor of the building include a Toshiba laptop and keyboard, as well as complete drum set which is blue, said Federico.

    SOUTH PARIS — The following is the Closed Case Report from Maine District Court in Oxford County from July 1, to July 31.

    Joseph R. Mitchell, DOB 1/31/90, of Sebago, was charged with Violating Condition of Release and Criminal Mischief on 4/18/12 in Norway by Norway Police. The charges were dropped.

  • Not-so-good old days

    The summer session of Oxford County Superior Court was a long one, but most of the cases on the docket were civil suits, many of which have already appeared in this column. The criminal cases were interesting too:

    After a term of twenty-eight working days, Oxford County Superior Court was adjourned finally, Monday noon. A record has been set for the county, the term being about six days over the record made in May, 1931.

    21:09 – Roland S. Young, born 9-17-75, of 25 Maine Ave. Apt. 4, Rumford, was arrested at Hosmer Field by Rumford Police Officer Bradlee Gallant and charged with Violation of Bail Conditions and Criminal Trespass.

    23:42 – Matthew S. Cummings, born 6-20-86, of 5 Servanity Lane, Harrison, was arrested on Harrison Rd. by Norway Police Officer Stephen Cronce and charged with Operating Without License and OUI.

  • Norway church burglarized

    NORWAY —  The Oxford Hills Christian Fellowship was burglarized recently, a sign that the iniquity of man is getting worse and worse, according to a report from the church. 

    According to Norway Police Chief Robert Federico, the incident happened some time between Thursday, August 23 at 2 p.m. and Saturday, August 25 at 8:25 a.m.  

    The church is located at 10 Country Club Road in Norway.
