  • Not-so-good old days

    Back in May, 1911, an unexpected turn of events altered the course of justice. In those days, what we now call Superior Court, heard all cases in the county courthouse in South Paris. However, back then, what was referred to as the Supreme Judicial Court alternated between Paris and Rumford.

    11:00 – Thomas A. Prendergast Sr., born 8-25-72, of 380 Mile Hill Rd. Apt. 22, Laconia, NH, was arrested on State Line by P&P and charged with Probation Violation.

    11:30 – Jennifer Noble, born 4-3-75, of 14 Wakefield Rd., Brownfield, was arrested in Porter by Oxford County Deputy Mike Smith and charged with Fugitive from Justice.

  • Buckfield man faces sexual assault charges

  • Two charged after pointing guns at officers

    FRYEBURG —  What began as officers responding to a report of a suicidal female with a gun led to two arrests when one person pointed an assault rifle at police November 29.

    Nathan M. Smith, 27, and Danikah M. Wesley-Dyer, 25, both of 109 Oxford St., were arrested there, police said. Smith was charged with reckless conduct and Wesley-Dyer was charged with reckless conduct and refusing to submit to arrest. Both remained in custody Friday.

    18:19 – Eric Warren Hawkins, born 2-23-93, of 38 Old Staples Hill Rd., Dixfield, was arrested on Route 2 by Maine State Trooper Paul Casey and charged with Fugitive from Justice.

    21:54 – Raymond P. Stewart, born 5-30-59, of 49 Washington St. upstairs apt., Rumford, was arrested on Bridge St. by Maine State Trooper Paul Casey and charged with two counts of Failure to Appear.

  • Four arrested for gun theft

    FRYEBURG — Four local people were arrested November 29 in connection with the theft of a firearm from a Fryeburg home.

    The firearm was recovered when police arrested Tyler S. Judyski, 24, on one count of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and Nathan J. Rivers, 22, on charges of receiving stolen property, unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs and trafficking in dangerous knives.
