    10:25 – Elijah J. Burgess, born 1-29-79, of 19 Swinton Rd., Woodstock, was arrested in Greenwood by Maine State Trooper John Russell and charged with OUI.

    13:20 - Leon Lee Billings, born 7-7-78, of 17 Kerr St., Rumford, was arrested in Mexico by Mexico Police Officer Roy Hodsdon and charged with DV Assault Prior DV (C).

  • 'Grandparent' and 'lottery' scams reported in Paris

    PARIS —  Former Interim Police Chief Mike Dailey reported in April that the department has been handling complaints of scams, particularly the "grandparent scam" and the "lottery scam." 

    "Typically what happens is, somebody will receive a call from someone [pretending] to be a family member saying they are in some type of trouble, either they've been arrested, or oftentimes, they've been involved in an accident and need help fixing their vehicle," Dailey explained, of the grandparent scam. 

  • Driver flees scene after crashing stolen car on Route 117

    SPEED A FACTOR —  Firefighters inspect this stolen 1998 Dodge Intrepid after it went off the road and caught fire at 65 Buckfield Road in Paris Monday. According to Paris Police Officer Timothy Libby, police are still trying to find the suspect who fled the scene just moments after crashing the car. Speed is a definite factor in the crash, Libby said.

    10:54 – Michael J. Lowe, born 1-2-70, of 32 High St. Apt. 4, Paris, was arrested on High St. by Paris Police Officer Nick Gilbert and charged with Disorderly Conduct.

    12:20 – Ryan M. Crump, born 11-1-80, of 819 Congress St., Portland, was arrested on Main St., Canton by Maine State Trooper Jason Wing and charged with Failure to Pay Fines.
