OHMS students win essay contest

PATRIOTISM ESSAY WINNERS - From left are Carlene Treadwell, Pam Merz, Joe Cooney, Paige Garcia, Hannah Mathieu, and Paul Miller. The VFW Patriot's Pen Essay Contest is conducted nationwide. This competition gives students an opportunity to write essays expressing their views on democracy. This year's theme was "Does Patriotism Still Matter?" Essays are judged on knowledge, theme development and clarity of ideas. Students compete at the local, district, state and national levels. Local level awards and ceremony were sponsored by the Floyd F. Harlow, VFW Post, South Paris.
