Harrison Elementary Aspire Higher scholarship winners

HARRISON SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS - Five students from Harrison Elementary School received $100 Aspire Higher scholarships as a result of walking in this year's Oxford Hills Homecoming/Aspire Higher celebration on September 25. Missing from the picture are scholarship donors Rick and Marilee Colpitts and their scholarship recipient, Emily Simmons, a fifth grade student. These scholarship donors were five of the 60 local businesses and community members that donated $100 scholarships to Oxford Hills students this year. The scholarship money is held in the Kiwanis Charitable Foundation until these students graduate from high school and enroll in a post-secondary institution. The primary goal of the "Aspire Higher" initiative is to raise post-secondary aspirations of students by showing community support and ensuring that students are better informed about their post-secondary education choices. The Aspire Higher Committee, consisting of members from the Oxford Hills School District and the Oxford Hills community, organize the Aspire Higher initiative.
