Oxford studets win scholarships
OXFORD SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS - Three students from Oxford Elementary School who marched in this year's Homecoming/Aspire Higher parade on September 25 received $100 Aspire Higher scholarships. From left are Justin Stygles, fifth grade teacher, representing Cents for Kids, with scholarship winner Isaiah Iadarola from fifth grade; Kim Ramharter, Principal, (filling in for an anonymous scholarship donor) with kindergarten student Nichole Wilson and Rep. Jim Hamper, with the recipient of the Lynn and Jim Hamper scholarship, first-grader Nathan Cooper. These scholarship donors were three of 60 local businesses and community members that donated $100 scholarships to Oxford Hills students. The Kiwanis Charitable Foundation holds the scholarship money until these students graduate from high school and enroll in a post secondary institution. The primary goal of the "Aspire Higher" initiative, organized by members of the Oxford Hills School District and the Oxford Hills community, is to raise the post-secondary aspirations of students.
