Early dismissals are huge problem
We continue to have a very big problem at the end of the day with parent’s requesting to have their children dismissed early or changing plans at the last minute. Every time someone asks to have their child dismissed early we have to interrupt the classroom and the learning that is going on. In addition, some parents are coming in and congregating near classrooms. Please do not ask to have your child dismissed early and if you pick them up, wait in the lobby area or outside the door in the front of the building. Do not come into the hallway at that end. We only get so much time to educate our children and we need to take advantage of every minute. Once again, we ask for your help. It really is a big problem for our teachers, students, and secretaries. We appreciate your help Mr. Sincerbeaux.
Aspire Higher Winners
Six students from Guy Rowe Elementary School received $100 Aspire Higher scholarships as a result of walking in this year’s Oxford Hills Homecoming/ Aspire Higher Parade on September 25: 6th grader, Erin Morton; 5th grader Stephen Dailey; 1st grader Joshua Johnson. Kindergarten student Morgan Cobbett is winner of the Wayne and Kathleen Chandler scholarship. 5th grader Will Eshleman is winner of the Western Maine Dentistry scholarship. 6th grader Connor Trumanis winner of the Senator David Hastings scholarship.
The primary goal of the “Aspire Higher” initiative is to raise the post-secondary aspirations of our students by showing community support and ensuring that our students are better informed about their choices. Each year, the Aspire Higher Committee, consisting of members from the Oxford Hills School District and the Oxford Hills Community, organize the parade and scholarship donations.
