Douglas L. Starbird

OXFORD – Douglas L. Starbird, 52, of Oxford was killed in a motorcycle accident on November 16, 2010.

He was born April 23, 1958 in Birkenfeld, Germany where his parents were in the Air Force. He spent his youth in Groveland, MA where he was involved in sports and had many friends. He attended Pentucket Reg. Whittier Vo. Tech. Schools.

He spent 20 years in Florida and the Gulf of Mexico shrimping. As a shrimp boat captain he survived the “perfect storm” before returning to New England. He moved to Oxford in 2005 and worked for Logan Painting.

He was a generous soul, always ready to help. He had a quick wit and outgoing personality and will be missed by many people across the country.

Mr. Starbird is survived by his longtime companion, Jerrianne Baldwin; his mother, Ruth Starbird; brother Donald and wife Stephanie; son Greg and wife Ann; daughter Stacy and companion Ray; two grandchildren; a nephew; aunts and many cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Harry Wm. Starbird.

Family and friends attended a Memorial Service on Sunday, November 21 at Oxford Hills and Weston Funeral Services, 1037 Main St., Rte 26, Oxford. Interment was at the Riverside Annex in South Paris. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Starbird's memory to the Rock-a-Dundee Snowmobile Club, P.O. Box 6, Oxford, ME 04270.
