Durward W. Eastman
CRYSTAL RIVER, FL — Durward W. Eastman, 88, of Crystal River, FL passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Hospice of Citrus Couty unit of Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, Fl. He was born March 16, 1922 in Lovell to Alva and Helene (Field) Eastman. He moved to Florida 26 years ago from Berlin, MA. He was a retired high school teacher in Northborough, MA and an industrial engineer. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps WWII veteran.
He was a member of the First Parish Church in Berlin, MA and attended the Congregational Church in Citrus Springs, FL. He was a former boy scout leader and a member of the Masonic Aurora Lodge in Fitchburg, MA, the Scottish Rite in Keene and Nashua, NH, the Shriner Bektash Temple in Concord, NH, Lake Region Shrine Club of Westbrook, Order of the Amaranth of Floral City, FL and the White Shrine of Jerusalem of Brooksville, FL. He was also a member of the York Rite, Ocala Royal Arch, Ocala Council and the Ocala Commandry.
Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years, Joanne S. Eastman of Crystal River, FL; a son, Thomas W. Eastman (Joanne D.) of Leominster, MA; a daughter, Liana Eastman Ruuttila (Eero) of Litchfield, NH; grandchildren, Erick T. Ruuttila, Todd W. Eastman and Alexandra J. Eastman and a step-grandson, Jesse Ruuttila.
A Memorial service will be held at a later date. Private cremation arrangements are under the care of Strickland Funeral Home with Crematory, Crystal River, FL.
