Mrs. Goldie E. (Hall) Clifford

NATICK, MA - Goldie E. (Hall) Clifford, 84, died peacefully in the care and comfort of her family following a brief illness on Monday, November 22, 2010. She was born in Unity on February 7, 1926, the daughter of the late Etta (Lyons) Hall and Frederick Hall. She was the step-daughter of the late Ellsworth Marr.

She spent her formative years in Norway and graduated from Norway High School with the Class of 1943. She attended secretarial school in Portland and began her career as a secretary with C.B. Cummings Co. of Norway. She has been a resident of Natick, MA for over 40 years and previously resided in Millis, MA for several years. For many years she was the Office Manager for the Natick, MA Racquet Club and retired after several years as the Office Manager at Region West in Newton, MA.

She and her husband Ron were members of the Square Riggers of Wellesley, MA and loved to square dance. She was the Past President of the Square Riggers. They were the recipients of the lifetime achievement award, known as the Yankee Clipper Award, for their efforts and support of the square dance community. While residing in Natick, MA they were active with the First Congregational Church in Natick, MA. In her earlier years, she spent many hours as an active member of the PTA in Natick, MA for her children. She also served the Town of Natick as a Town Meeting member for many years. She loved to travel with her husband and children and will be remembered for her devotion to her family as they were the center of her life.

Mrs. Clifford is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Ronald W. Clifford of Framingham, MA, formerly of Natick, MA. She was the loving mother of Barry W. Clifford and his wife Rose of Natick, MA and Beth E. Clifford and her fiancé Dennis Connolly of Oakton, VA and cherished grandmother of Mark Green of Hartford, CT, Christopher Green of Oakton, VA and Maeve Clifford and Owen Clifford, both of Natick, MA.

Visitations were held Friday, November 26,  in the Bryant Memorial Chapel of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Rd. (off Rte 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland, MA. Her funeral service was held on Saturday, November 27,  at the First Congregational Church, 2 East Central St. (Rte 135), Natick Center, MA.

Graveside services were held on Sunday, November 28, in the Clifford family lot in Riverside Annex Cemetery, Paris Hill Rd., South Paris. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests that memorial gifts in her memory be sent to the American Lung Assoc. of Middlesex County, POB 265, Burlington, MA 01803.
