Shirley H. Brace


BUCKSPORT - Shirley H. Brace, 61, quietly passed from this world into her beloved Heaven on February 25, 2010 while her husband Thomas L. Brace, her daughter, Cindy Austin of W. Sumner and son, Doug Barbato of Mechanic Falls were at her side at EMMC in Bangor. She was born November 21, 1948 in Cambridge, MA, a daughter of the late Gladys and Melvin Haines of Naples.
     She was a long-term resident of Harrison where she was the town bookkeeper. She had also worked in the accounting offices of Hancock Lumber in Casco, Oxford Networks in Buckfield, and was proprietor of a Christian bookstore in Harrison. She and her husband met in Portland while they were both employed by Waste Management in 1986. They were married on August 2, 1987 on the slopes of what was then Pleasant Mountain ski area. She and her husband have currently been living in Bucksport where they operated a small business.
     Mrs. Brace graduated from Waltham High School in 1967 before earning her Associate's Degree in Para-accounting from Bentley College in Waltham, MA.
     Surviving are her husband, daughter, son, four grandsons, two step daughters and three step-grandchildren.
     Visiting hours will be held 4-5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 5, followed by a celebration of life service from 5:30 - 6 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, 165 Quaker Ridge Rd. in Casco. On-line condolences may be left for the family at hallfuneralhomeinc.com.
