Ruby A. Tripp
POLAND - Ruby A. Tripp, 90, of Poland passed away in peace and dignity on February 26, 2010 at her home as she wished to be, surrounded by family pictures, her two sisters and her long-term caregivers. She was born in Casco on July 30, 1919, the daughter of Arthur and Gertrude Small Tripp. She graduated from Mechanic Falls High School in the Class of 1936 and Auburn Maine School of Commerce. She worked as a buyer for Millikin-Tomlinson Co., which later became Wetterau Co. in their Portland division. She worked there from 1942 until her retirement in 1977. She was a lifelong resident of Poland. In the 1950s as a Girl Scout leader and with her brother Donald, a Boy Scout leader, they organized a teen center for young people in Poland. She loved to travel and was an avid reader of books. She enjoyed gardening, genealogy and camp in Stoneham with family. Family came first with her; she provided care and support for her parents and five brothers and sisters all of her life. She was a member of the Poland Community Church and was active in the historical society to preserve the history of Poland. Restoring the red schoolhouse was an important part of her retirement. Miss Tripp is survived by her sisters, Beverly Tripp of Poland and Patricia Newyear of Corpus Christi, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Carl, Donald and Orville. Her caregivers, Pam Cyr, Robin Millett, Debbie Laurinaitis, Jo Belanger, Courtney Belanger, Ann Tucci, Ethel McKenzie, Bonnie Jones, Jenna Jones, Bonnie Bartlett and Kate Shaunesey (AHHS) will act as her honorary pallbearers. Family and friends attended funeral services Monday, March 1 at the Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, 26 West Dwinal Street, Mechanic Falls. Spring interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Poland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be sent to the Poland Community Church or the Poland Historical Society. On-line condolences maybe shared with her family at www.westonchandler.com.
