BEN CONANT TO SPEAK ON TRIP TO EVANSTON, IL, AT PARIS HISTORICAL SOCIETY 7:00 p.m. at the museum, 77 High St., So. Paris. Conant was invited to attend, with all expenses paid, the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the dedication of the library at Northwestern University in Evanston, just outside of Chicago. This was put on by the heirs of James Deering, who funded the establishment of Moore Park in South Paris. Public is invited to hear Ben Conant speak of his experiences in his memorable trip. Refreshments will be served following the meeting.

CRUISE IN AT BEAL'S TAVERN PARKING LOT Hosted by L.F. Pike (the Blue Store). 5 p.m. to dusk in the parking lot next to the store, Main St., Norway. Street rods, hot rods and classic cars of all shapes, sizes and vintages are invited to participate and be on display for the public. HANNIBAL HAMLIN BICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION Commemoration of Hamlin's birth at 10 a.m. on the Common across from his birthplace. Activities include speakers, walking tour of historic sites around the Common and exhibits at the Paris Hill Historical Society, Hamlin Memorial Library and the Paris Hill Academy. 19th century games, music and craft exhibitions will be held on the Common and box lunches will be available. Day will conclude with a rededication of the Memorial Monument set in place by the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the U.S. at the 1909 Centennial Celebration. WESTERN MAINE CHAPTER OF SMALL WOODLAND OWNERS ASSOCIATION FIELD DAY Registration, with coffee and donuts, starts at 8 a.m. at the home and farm of Al Stevens and family, off the Intervale Rd. which is 3.5 miles from Bethel. Signs will be posted. Program starts at 9 a.m. Several activities are planned for the children, including bug walks and a scavenger hunt. CHRIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH'S YARD SALE 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at the church, 35 Paris St., Norway, Bargain hunters will find a wide variety of attractively priced items for sale, including indoor and outdoor furniture, small appliances, house wares, classic jewelry in the sale's Tiffany Room, sporting goods, toys, games and books. The ladies of the church have been creating their special recipes of baked goods, which will be available for purchase during the sale hours. Beginning at 1 p.m., all items which can fit into a bargain bag will be sold for $1.
SECOND CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH OF NORWAY'S TENT AND TREASURE SALE Coffee and donuts will be for sale for eager shoppers at 6:30 a.m. and the sale is from 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the church, Main St., Norway. No early birds or previews allowed before the sale. Women's Fellowship will have a food table, which will include homemade pies, beans and other baked goods. Sale event will include books to baby stuff and tractors to trinkets plus crafts and fresh produce. There will also be face painting for the youngest shoppers.
NORWAY BUSINESS ASSOCIATION'S FUNDRAISER SIDEWALK SALE AND AUCTION Part of the proceeds will donated to Christmas for Kids. The meeting will give parents a chance to talk about their educational goals for their children, see examples of the different curricula and materials used and meet some of the adults who will be working with their children. Day will involve working together to finish the Harrison Gazebo at Crystal Lake Park for everyone to enjoy. Giant Yard Sale will be held in the municipal parking lot at the Harrison Town Office. Donations are being accepted and please no TVs, computers, large appliances or clothes and can be dropped off at the town office. Good saleable items are needed. There will also be a Bake and Pie Sale with donations appreciated plus hamburgers, hot dogs and chili and a 50/50 raffle. Volunteers are needed to help make this day a success. NORWAY-PARIS FISH & GAME WEEKLY TRAP SHOOTING Proceeds benefit the Club. In the afternoon at the shooting range, Buckfield Rd. (Rte. 117), So. Paris. The format is currently trap shooting only and the club is now utilizing a voice activated wireless release system. Along with its Pat-Trap clay target throwing machine, the Norway-Paris Fish & Game boasts a professional trap shooting experience. Beverages are available to purchase.
