Carroll S. Fogg
NORWAY - Carroll S. Fogg (Foggy), 96 died November 14, 2010 at Stevens Memorial Hospital, Norway. He was born September 13, 1914 in Cumberland, the son of Walter R. Fogg and Christina (Cram) Fogg. He attended Cumberland schools and served in the 70th Infantry Division during World War 11 in Europe. On September 29, 1935 he married Katherine McAllister.
For many years he worked for HP Hood & Son, Inc. throughout Maine until his retirement in 1972. He continued working with his son Ray for 10 years and then part time for Dead River in Norway until the age of 90.
He was active for many years as a member of Masonic Lodge #132 , Waterford, the Shrine, Bear Mt. Grange #62, South Waterford, and VFW Fryeburg-Lovell.
Until recently he had the gift of good health and was able to drive up until his 96th birthday.
He was very active and enjoyed many activities with his companion Doris McAllister, friends and family. He enjoyed traveling, watching the Boston Red Sox, playing cards, fishing, hunting, trapping, gardening and telling stories of his past experiences. He had a "secret" fishing spot in northern Maine that he kept only for his family. He started an annual fishing and camping trip with his son Ray 45 years ago. This trip then went on to include his grandchildren and then grew to include his great-grandchildren. His last trip this past summer was very special to him at age 95. He had his son, four of his grandchildren and one of their wives and six of his great-grandchildren with him when he said goodbye to his "secret" place. He knew in his heart it was his last trip there, but the memories would last forever.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Katherine on May 12, 1991 and his brothers and sisters.
Mr. Fogg is survived by his two children, Marcia (Fogg) Glatt and her husband Terry of Levant and Ray Fogg and his wife Dawn of Glenburn; his six beloved grandchildren, Carol (Fogg) Kwaitkowsky and her husband Colt of Brewer, Jeff Fogg and his wife Zetta of Holden, Peter Fogg and his wife Amy of Holden, Garret Glatt and his wife Crystal of Levant, Tracy Glatt and his wife Miranda of Somerville and Cheryl Glatt of Levant; his much loved great-grandchildren, Shauna Glatt, Brian Glatt, Michalie Larabee, Amber Glatt, Lauren Fogg, Katherine Fogg, Jamie Fogg, Drew Fogg, Peyton Fogg and Ashton Kwaitkowsky; his beloved companion of many years Doris McAllister of Norway and her two sons Daniel McAllister and his wife Sally of Hampden, and Conrad McAllister and his wife Nancy of Norway and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, November 19 followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. at Oxford Hills and Weston Funeral Services, 1037 Main St., Rte. 26, Oxford. Interment will be at the Number 4 Cemetery located on the Kimball Road in Lovell. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Fogg’s memory may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
