WATERFORD — Luther P. Hilton, 72, of Waterford died Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway. He was born in Naples on February 10, 1940, the son of Everett C. and Leona A. Rolfe Hilton. He lived in many places growing up, Bridgton, Otisfield, Gorham and Edgecomb.

He worked on the pipe line in Pennsylvania. He worked in the woods most of his life. He was one of the best woodsman around. He worked for Richard Fogg for many years.

His family meant very much to him and all of his friends as well. He was always there to give a helping hand to people in need. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Some of his best times were hunting with his wife and his dear friend, Albert Heino, now deceased. They had a good time together. They always shared their adventures. He enjoyed watching John Wayne movies. He did bait dealing for many years of smelts and shiners. He also enjoyed digging in old dumps for bottles and other relics.

He held woodsman championships at Fryeburg Fair for many years with a chain saw. He won many trophies and ribbons at many fairs on woodsman days.

Mr. Hilton leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Priscilla (Heino); a son, Anthony of Waterford; two grandchildren, Nathan and Noah of Norway, who meant the world to him; brothers, Guy of Standish and Larry Flagg and his wife Gayle of Norway, who by his side every day at the hospital, and Jimmy; sisters, Betty Proctor and husband Forrest of Harrison, Lillian Hebert and husband Charlie of Buxton and Jewel; many nieces and nephews; a very special sister-in-law, Barbara and brother-in-law Steve Walo of Otisfield and good friends Harold and Helen Leino of Harrison. He was predeceased by two sisters, Ada Inverso of NJ and Margaret Strickland of Bridgton.
